Had a fun night here. The staff were super cute. Lots of tables, comfortable whether you’re standing or sitting. Not sure why it was so quiet, probably because it was a weekday. Will come back. The singers are good, but there aren’t as many as at the District 3 branch. The drinks are not good, but the prices are total just ~500k for both of us

Acoustic Bar Thao Dien - Bar in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Acoustic Bar occupies a compact room on Trần Ngọc Diện that fills up fast once the band takes the stage. The resident act — an Indonesian group that has built a following among regulars — runs through pop, rock, and metal with enough technical command to keep the room engaged well past midnight. Cowboy-style decorations line the walls, giving the space a distinctly American roadhouse feel that sets it apart from the polished cocktail bars elsewhere in Thao Dien. Tables go quickly, and the bar operates a minimum-spend or cover-charge policy for walk-ins, so arriving early matters.
The crowd skews toward expats and tourists looking for something louder and more performative than the neighborhood's wine-and-charcuterie circuit. Sound quality draws consistent praise — the mix is clean at volume, which is not a given in venues this size. Drinks lean toward beer and basic cocktails; pricing sits noticeably above district averages, with Heineken running around 160–170k VND and cocktails touching 270k, so the appeal is the performance rather than the pour.
Service has drawn mixed feedback: on busy nights the floor can feel understaffed, and seating logistics occasionally frustrate guests who arrive without reservations. The experience is best framed as a live-gig night rather than a bar crawl stop — Acoustic Bar works well for a group that wants a single destination with a real band, loud music, and a few rounds, rather than somewhere to linger over craft drinks in a quieter setting.
Reviews
Went there to see a particular band that was not playing that night. Local band was ok, but music way too loud. Drinks were 270k each (10 USD)? This was more expensive than Park Hyatt??? (At a venue that is nowhere close as luxury). And the cocktails were very basic. But ok, I thought, live music… Then I ordered one soda (a can of soda water) which sowed up on the bill at 170k which is 6.5 USD??!! I asked the waiter if he was really going to charge me this price, to which he said “this is for the band”…. What??? Sorry, if the owner is reading this: you either have an uneducated server staff racket happening or the bar is truly gauging the customers. Honestly, was expecting a much more pleasant experience…. I visit many local bars, this one is off my list.
My experience here was horrible because of the staff. Everything else was fine, but the staff completely ruined it. They seated me in a corner right next to the speaker with extremely loud music. The waiter rushed us to order, but the menu only listed drink names without any ingredients. When I asked for more details, he gave a careless, vague answer just to get it over with and kept pushing us to order quickly. The drinks were average, and the price was a bit high for a classic margarita. My chair was tall and didn’t have a footrest, so I asked to change seats, but the staff refused, even though there was an empty seat nearby. Even worse, they brought us a drink, and 10 minutes later, took that same drink away to give to the table next to us because they had made a mistake. Luckily, we hadn’t drunk it yet and were only taking photos, but if we had, it would have been extremely unprofessional and unhygienic. We were even rushed to pay before we had finished our drinks. After payment, they didn’t give me the bill until I asked, and when they did, it was a crumpled piece of paper that looked like it had just been pulled out of the trash. Anw, I will not be coming back here unless they hire a new, more professional team.
atomosphere was on point: loud, energetic, and enthusiastic. drinks were a bit overpriced, but the artist really performed their heart out. applaud to them; highly suggested this place for those who want loud and american vibes
Tiny spot but I really like the vibe! 🍻 However, 170K VND for a bottle of Heineken feels quite pricey. The staff could be more organized with table allocation , we walked in without a booking and got a small corner seat near bar area, but later saw others without bookings getting seats in the middle area of the bar
