📍 ᴀ.ᴍ ᴘʜɪɴ & ᴘᴏᴜʀ - I'm not often found around Thu Duc but there are a few cafes that I wanted to visit which A.M was one of. It's a very rustic open space with big open windows on both sides that let the breeze drift through. It feels alive in the best way: the rain dripping, wind, and soft music playing in the background. Many open-air cafés in Saigon allow smoking, but thankfully this one doesn’t What really stands out here is the energy. The team behind the bar is genuinely kind and attentive. I noticed photos of a doggy but unfortunately I didn't see any during my visit. Perhaps next time hehe.

A.M Phin & Pour - Coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
A.M Phin & Pour operates out of a deliberately spare space near Cát Lái — cement walls left raw, tables rough-hewn, ceramic mugs instead of glass. The design choice is intentional: large windows on both sides funnel whatever breeze is moving, and dense greenery around the perimeter keeps the air cooler than the midday sun suggests. There is no air conditioning, and regulars treat that as a feature rather than a flaw, particularly when rain arrives and the open walls turn the café into something close to a covered terrace.
The coffee program splits between Vietnamese-style and specialty. The bạc xỉu draws a loyal crowd — one long-term regular cites it as the sole reason to make the trip — while the pour over menu rotates through carefully sourced single-origin beans for those who want something less sweet. The bar team is noted for attentiveness without being intrusive, and the owner has maintained consistent quality since the early days when the operation was smaller.
The café enforces a no-smoking policy, which sets it apart from many open-air spots in the city where that's left ambiguous. Seating is arranged with enough separation that working alone or in small groups feels comfortable rather than cramped; the owner is said to be deliberate about giving each table its own breathing room. Hours run early to late afternoon — 6:30 AM to 5 PM daily — making it a morning and midday destination rather than an evening one. The 1-star review on record concerns a Tet closure not reflected online, a reasonable caveat for anyone planning a special trip during holidays.

Reviews
There’s something about A.M that pulls me in whenever I’m in the mood for bạc xỉu. :’) There’s really nothing more to say about this place — it holds a special place in my heart. I have been with them since almost the beginning, back when An was still often behind the counter. Things have changed over time, but the quality and care in every cup remain just the same. No air-conditioning here, but you’ll know where to find me when the rain comes. :’)
A.M. Phin & Pour embraces the rustic simplicity of natural materials. Exposed cement walls pair beautifully with rough-hewn wooden tables and ceramic mugs, fostering a calming, minimalist ambience. While the gentle lighting might feel slightly subdued in the evenings, it adds to the cafe's cosy charm. Lush greenery surrounds the place, keeping the air pleasantly cool and fresh, except perhaps for the peak heat of midday. While the drinks might not be top-notch, they are satisfying enough. They even offer complimentary genmaicha infused water for a refreshing touch. And for a furry friend, you might encounter Mơ the white dog, who prefers good naps to greeting customers.
Very disappointing experience at this coffee shop today. It said online that they were open despite the Tet holiday, but when I arrived - as a traveller with luggage who had paid for a long taxi ride just to come here - I was refused entry and told they were closed. (Feb 19, around 1:30PM) (The employee also told me there was a convenience store nearby where I could sit, eat, and work, but I am at that store now, and it turns out that’s not true either!!!)
The coffee shop is cozy and welcoming. The coffee is rich and delicious, and the pastries are fresh. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxing, perfect for working or chatting with friends :)
