BAP’S French Bakery - Bakery in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
BAP's French Bakery occupies the Green building at 192 Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, opening every day at 6 AM — a schedule that reflects its identity as a Thao Dien breakfast stop. The croissant is the clear anchor of the menu: priced at 30,000 VND, it draws repeat visitors who describe its texture and crunchiness as among the best they've found in the city. Several regulars make the trip specifically for the croissants, often picking up two or more to justify the journey, which says something about the draw relative to other options in the neighborhood at that price point.
The bakery pairs its pastries with coffee, and a number of regulars treat the two as a standing morning ritual. The owners are visibly present and greet customers with an ease that gives the place a personal character that polished café concepts on the same street don't replicate.
The range extends beyond croissants to baguettes, sourdough loaves, and cakes. The bread side has drawn more mixed feedback — the Tradition baguette and sourdough have attracted criticism from customers who expect the fermentation depth and crumb structure those designations carry in France. It is a genuine gap worth noting for anyone coming primarily for the bread program. The croissant, however, holds up consistently across reviews and represents the strongest reason to visit.
The exterior reads well in early morning light, and the interior is comfortable enough for a relaxed sit-down rather than a counter grab-and-go. At a price point that sits well below most comparable spots in Thao Dien, BAP's carves out a reliable niche for the morning croissant crowd even if its broader artisan bread range still has room to develop.
Reviews
Whenever I crave for a croissant, BAP is the place to go. It’s by far my 5’th time visiting this lovely bakery, to taste their croissant again. As it’s a bit far from my home so I always grab 2 or more. The Price is reasonable (30,000 VND for a croissant) and I can have the best croissant in the city?? Defenitely worth it!! The atmosphere here is wonderful for hanging out with friends. Employees are friendly. I sometimes meet the owners, both are very enthusiasm and friendly to greet. Defenitely revisit here again.
I bought 2 stick of bread yesterday. I chose the "Tradition" baguette. I was very disappointed by the quality of the bread. I am French and a "Tradition" baguette follows a high standard in France. In this case it was a very ordinary baguette yet charged at the price of a Tradition (35 000 VND). I will never go back and feel that I will have to force myself to finish the bread that I bought. Do not use the designation "Tradition" if you do not follow and deliver the corresponding standard. This is wrong.
The quality of the bread has really declined since it changed owners and became BAP’s. I purchased a « Sourdough » bread, and it was nothing but a poor regular bread. It was excellent before. The crumb now is pale white, had a poor and not chewy texture, no tangy flavor, and dried out really quickly. It’s easy to figure out this bread didn’t went through proper sourdough fermentation. On another occasion I tried a Tradition baguette and was also unsatisfied with the quality level of the crumb and crust. It is very disappointing misleading people on using such terms as « Sourdough » or « Tradition » and yet providing poor quality industrial-like products. On, again, another occasion I ordered pastries early in the morning, and not only had they arrived with 20 minutes delay but also they were clearly not fresh from the day and had no crustiness at all.
I often buy cakes here, very very delicious
