Flan parisien has a smooth texture with a rich chocolate flavor and isn’t overly sweet. I’d highly recommend sharing it, though, as the portion is quite large and can feel a bit heavy if eaten alone. The coffee is aromatic and safe — nothing too adventurous, but pleasant. The space is calm, light, and fairly chill, might get crowded sometimes and i actually saw some ratatouille. The café is only open on weekends. Nothing particularly standout, but overall a decent experience.

Breadventure - Bakery in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Breadventure operates three days a week — Friday through Sunday — from a compact shopfront off Đỗ Quang, near where the street approaches the river. The limited schedule reflects a deliberate, small-batch approach to French baking: loaves and pastries sell out within a few hours of the 9 AM opening, and a queue is reliably forming before the doors unlock.
The Flan Parisien earns the most consistent praise. Available in black sesame and chocolate, it carries a silky texture and restrained sweetness that reads as genuinely French rather than approximated. The black sesame version is especially noted for its depth of aroma. The breakfast plate — baguette, butter, and jam — is simple but executed with the same care, and for many regulars it is reason enough to make the trip. Sourdough loaves are among the more affordable serious options in the neighborhood without a corresponding drop in quality; reviewers place them at the top of the district. Croissants are properly flaky with good butter flavor. Cinnamon rolls arrive on the smaller side and are sometimes offered two at a time, with a balanced fragrance that stops short of cloying.
The room is tight. One server manages both the dine-in tables and the takeout queue simultaneously during peak hours, which produces a brisk pace. Arriving close to opening gets the full selection and a calmer atmosphere — the space has a light, unhurried quality before capacity is reached. Coffee is competent: an oat milk latte is on offer, though the drinks play a supporting role to the baked goods.
Breadventure draws a loyal mix of Thao Dien residents, expats, and visitors who plan their weekend morning around it. The word-of-mouth reputation has been built largely through repeat visits rather than street-level visibility.
Reviews
Best sourdough in town - and comparably more affordable than nearby sourdough bakeries. Include some pastries, which are excellent too! Do mind the line though, they can sold out after a few hours.
The Weekend Secret Bakery at the end of Xuan Thuy: If you are looking for French breadmaking at its absolute finest, Breadventure is the spot. Tucked away in a cozy bylane off the latter end of Xuan Thuy (near the river), this place is a weekend-only spot run by a Frenchman and a team of skilled Vietnamese bakers (I state based on observation only). My picks: The Flan is simply to die for. If you order one thing, make it this. They offer a simple breakfast with bread, butter and jam. Also features a Special Menu that rotates. The sourdough and pain au chocolat are top-tier. The ambience is nice. An open-air setting with tables under the trees perfect for a slow weekend start (although the crowded setting may feel uncomfortable for some people). Best time: It gets very busy in the morning. To be fair, Thao Dien is generally crowded to varying degrees on weekends, so be prepared to stand in a queue if you arrive at peak breakfast time. 11 - 12 noon is a relatively quieter time.
I tried the Flan Parisien today; they had chocolate and black sesame flavors. I went with the black sesame, and it was delicious! The sesame aroma was rich, and it was perfectly sweet. The cinnamon roll was also excellent. It had a medium-strong cinnamon fragrance, and the sweetness was just right. The staff kindly gave me two because they are on the smaller side
The pastries were very fresh and yummy. Very authentic. Highly recommended. Do a stop here for the pastries. If u dine in, get serve the baguette with butter and jam.
