Chuk Chuk - Coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Chuk Chuk operates in the space between coffee shop and Vietnamese snack bar, which makes it harder to categorize than most places along Thao Dien's café-lined streets. The menu runs from early-morning coffee through to 10 PM, but the food list reads like an inventory of Vietnamese drinking snacks: deboned chicken feet tossed with pepper and oyster sauce, duck tongue, fried chicken cartilage, grilled pork belly with galangal, crispy spring rolls stuffed with shrimp and pork. These aren't afterthoughts — they're the reason many regulars come back.
The snack selection skews toward the more adventurous end of Vietnamese comfort food. Silken tofu with century egg sits alongside smoked seafood tofu; the Melo Melo salad combines sea snail, fresh herbs, and tangy fish sauce; Thai-style blood cockle rounds out a menu that pulls from across Vietnamese street-food tradition. For those less inclined toward offal and shellfish, there are crispy potato wedges, shaken potato with cheese, and fried pork belly with Thai sauce.
With 539 Google reviews at 4.2 stars, it draws a steady local crowd — the kind of place that works for a mid-morning coffee, a long afternoon session with snacks, or early-evening drinks before dinner. The address on a quieter residential lane off the main Thao Dien grid keeps the atmosphere noticeably more relaxed than venues closer to the district's busier café strips. The daily 7:30 AM opening means it catches the before-work crowd as readily as the late-afternoon one, and the 10 PM close gives it a longer operating window than most comparable spots in the area.

A Peaceful Haven in the Bustling Life of Thao Dien If you’re seeking a moment of tranquility amid the vibrant energy of Thao Dien, this place is perfect for you. They offer a nice selection of coffee along with a variety of snacks, including classic bánh mì and bánh mì que. It’s best to arrive early, as seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For a more relaxed experience, head upstairs where the sofas are incredibly comfortable and ideal for unwinding. This spot is perfect for catching up with long-lost friends. Highly recommended.
while the coffee was decent, I left feeling disappointed due to their excessive use of plastic. From single-use plastic cups and lids to straws and utensils, it was evident that sustainability is not a priority here. The ambiance was pleasant, and the staff were friendly, but the lack of eco-consciousness overshadowed the experience. In today’s world, where many establishments are transitioning to reusable or biodegradable materials, this coffee shop seems to be lagging behind. Rating: 3/5 (Good coffee, but unsustainable practices).
Love this place. Good tea, i alway order two and their sticky rice. Amazing staffs, alway helpful. They have 3 floors and the top floor is a nice spot for people to gather and work. Definitely my choice if im in the area.
I wish I could tell you how the stuff tastes like but I was not given the chance to customize the ingredients in the menu. Whatever you see on the manu, thats what you get, I told them i m picky about what goes into the bread, i don't like herbs like calamento, I don't like all the vegetables, I don't like pate etc. I asked them if I could watch the process and tell if I d like to pick the stuff that goes in one by one, at first we had the language barrier, then we used google translate to make it through but I was not allowed to watch the process of banh mi preparation. How come I m not allowed to specify the ingredients, I m gonna eat that thing and you are supposed to make me enjoy it.
