I recently visited this pork cutlet restaurant and was really impressed! The pork cutlet was delicious, but the curry was also great—rich without being too greasy. The real standout was the chicken cutlet, though. It was incredibly tender, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The tartar sauce it came with was a perfect match. They also offer free refills on coleslaw and kimchi, which is a nice bonus. The place gets really busy on weekends, so it’s best to arrive early. Definitely worth a try if you love pork and chicken cutlets with tasty sauces!

봄돈까스 - Cutlet Spring - Tonkatsu restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Cutlet Spring occupies a small, polished dining room on a quiet residential lane in Thao Dien — capacity tops out around 35 seats, and the place fills fast. The menu is narrow by design: a focused selection of pork and chicken tonkatsu, jjolmyeon, and curry. That restraint shows in the execution. Pork arrives made to order, golden and crispy, cooked slightly below well-done to keep the meat tender. The chicken cutlet draws particular attention for its juicy interior and the house tartar sauce served alongside. Free refills on kimchi and coleslaw are standard throughout the meal.
The crowd skews heavily Korean and Japanese. Korean-owned, the kitchen sources what regulars describe as noticeably high-quality ingredients, and portion sizes are generous. Sapporo draft beer pairs well with the heavier cutlet options and is consistently mentioned by those who order it. Prawn cutlet is available at 70,000 VND per piece; the portions are large. The cheese tonkatsu has its admirers but carries the highest price point on the menu.
Weekday lunches and weekend services both run crowded — no reservations are taken, so arriving at opening is the practical approach. The split hours (11 AM to 3 PM, then 5 to 8:30 PM) leave no afternoon window; planning around those blocks matters. The menu currently reads in Korean and English, which some local guests have flagged as a barrier for Vietnamese-speaking dining companions.
Against Thao Dien's wider dining landscape, which leans heavily Western and pan-Asian casual, this is a proper tonkatsu specialist rather than a generalist Japanese restaurant — a distinction that brings expats and Korean residents back repeatedly.
Reviews
This restaurant is absolutely amazing! Not only is the tonkatsu incredible, but the jjolmyeon is just as delicious. You definitely have to try it — highly recommended!
Delicious tonkatsu with a Korean twist. Made to order and crispy. Pork cooked slightly below well done came with good taste. The prawns were huge and cost 70K for one. Our favourite tonkatsu restaurant.
The best Tonkatsu I have had in Vietnam. Good location, nice decor with comfortable seating. Most customers are Korean and Japanese. Owner is Korean. They use high quality ingredients and the portions are large. Focused menu enables them to really deliver high quality for the selected dishes they serve. Highly recommended.
All of the dishes were exceptionally well-made. Well maybe it was a bit on the salty side but they offered free unlimited water so that was OK. Capacity was very limited (30~40 guests max) and no reservations. Be sure to arrive early for seata (or prepare to fight)
