Happy Tree Coffee & Chocolate - Chocolate cafe in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Happy Tree Coffee & Chocolate occupies a surprisingly spacious address near Tropic Garden in An Khánh, Thu Duc, where the interior opens up well beyond what the frontage suggests. The coffee program is the clearest differentiator: most espresso-based drinks can be prepared with a guest's choice of beans, a level of transparency that rewards regulars who want to dial in flavor profiles — from fruity and acidic to nutty and full-bodied. Everything tried, from straight espressos to multi-bean cappuccinos, has drawn consistent praise for balance and precision.
The food menu extends further than most cafes in the area. Panini sandwiches and pasta are made fresh to order rather than pulled from a display case, and the kitchen accommodates dietary requests with a flexibility that reads as genuine rather than reluctant. On the drinks side, homemade kombucha on tap is an unusual offering for the neighborhood, sitting alongside the full coffee and chocolate menu.
The space itself is dense with plants — hanging, potted, and climbing — creating a green, shaded atmosphere that stays calm despite relying primarily on fans rather than heavy air conditioning. Seating is comfortable and scales well, handling solo workers with laptops as easily as small groups catching up over brunch. A bulk goods store adjacent to the main cafe adds another layer to the concept, drawing the same environmentally minded crowd the kitchen already attracts.
Background music runs at a considered volume: present enough to fill the room but low enough for conversation or focused work. Prices sit at the reasonable end for the quality on offer. The combination of bean selection, fresh-made food, and tapped kombucha gives Happy Tree Coffee & Chocolate a clear identity that sets it apart from the standard neighborhood cafe in the Thu Duc corridor.
Reviews
Fresh menu, excellent food, delicious coffee, a bright and cozy space where the music is played at exactly the right volume, and friendly service with a smile. This place gets it right! What a lovely little addition to the neighborhood.
It’s a very nice and cozy place, and the interior is much bigger than I expected. The menu is quite diverse, with a drinks and also brunch menu. I love that they’re very environmentally conscious and can cater to different dietary requests. 🌱🌱 The seating is so comfortable, suitable for both big and small groups. I love the plants everywhere, it looks very calm and peaceful. It’s a great place to do work for sure. They mostly have fans on, so it might be a little steamy at first, but when I visited it was raining so the weather was very chill and cool. But they do have AC, you can probably ask them to turn it on. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The place is closed every Monday tho.
Great concept cafe and quality bulk items in their store next door. Panini sandwiches and pasta made fresh to order, and fantastic homemade kombucha by the tap. Prices are good as well.
Good coffee, paninis were delicious, and staff were friendly. They had kombucha on tap and it was great
