The Story

About This Place

Kebaby occupies a compact, no-frills space on Phạm Viết Chánh in District 2, drawing a consistent crowd of expats and long-term visitors who have come to treat the garlic white sauce as mandatory rather than optional. The menu is organized across four formats — stuffed pide pockets (döner), yufka wraps, naan rolls, and bowls — giving the kitchen unusual range for a single-concept restaurant. The Low Karbaby Bowl swaps starch for a tabouleh and vegetable base topped with feta crumble and the same sauces; the rice bowl builds on buttered basmati. Both options have become regulars for guests who want the kebab flavors in a lighter frame.

The lamb is the most frequently cited reason people return. The sliced minced lamb and lamb kofta carry enough moisture and seasoning that guests who normally default to chicken leave having reconsidered. Mixed chicken-and-lamb options serve as a reasonable middle ground on a first visit. The falafel döner and falafel naan roll are genuine vegetarian and vegan alternatives rather than afterthoughts, with the vegan roll adding a hummus spread in place of yogurt-based sauces.

Portions are large relative to the price point — a 150,000–170,000 VND bowl is enough that value-for-money comes up repeatedly in reviews. The fries, sold separately at 50,000 VND, have developed their own following; reviewers compare the texture to homemade rather than frozen. Sauces arrive on the side, and the chili option alongside the garlic white sauce is commonly recommended.

The Turkish and Middle Eastern style is distinct enough from the Vietnamese lunch competition in the area that Kebaby sits in its own category on the District 2 circuit. Hours run daily until 11 PM, one of the few non-Vietnamese options in the neighborhood open into the evening.

One of the best kebab in town. Particularly this is actually the middle eastern/Turkish Greek style kebab, so many foreigners frequent here. Also highly highly recommend their fries! 50k one potion, fairly huge. Also super cute staff member.

I had the chicken kebab/donair with fries. It was a little different than donairs back home in Canada, but I really enjoyed it. The fries were yummy like homemade type my mom used to make. Delicious
