Marcel Gourmet Burger - Hamburger restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

I ordered the Signature Burger and specifically requested it to be cooked medium well, as I do not prefer undercooked minced beef. Unfortunately, it was served medium rare instead. I politely informed the staff, but no action was taken to resolve the issue. I almost never leave food unfinished, but this was one of the rare occasions where I had no choice. The burger was too undercooked for my preference and, on top of that, it lacked flavor. Neither the beef nor the sauces had any memorable or distinctive taste. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Ordered the truffle burger, medium rare. The first bite was delightful with all the truffle oil and brie. Then it went south. The meat was cooked well-done, under-seasoned, and tasted nothing like quality beef, more like mass-produced patty. For the hefty 190++ pricetag for the burger alone, I expected much better quality. The bun was not even pan-seared with butter, its texture was plain bread. Onion rings were dribbling with oil. They could have let the oil dry out a bit before serving. The burst of oil from each bite was not pleasant. The servers were alright, friendly. But again for the pricetag, I expected more. I had a third of my specialty coffee with me and the place had a no outside food or drink and the server asked to store it in the fridge for me, first thing. She could have waited for me to finish ordering to see whether we ordered any drinks and only asked if we didnt. We did not feel comfortable enough to order their over-priced drinks in the end (bottled water for 45k++ and teas for 80k++). Upon paying they did not return my coffee and we had to ask for it back. The place was empty with only us and another table of 3. No one asked me how was the food either. Overall, I find this place more gimmicky than an actual "gourmet burger" joint. They claim to be something more than they are and charge a hefty price compared to what they serve. Oh and they don't provide and parking instructions. We went around the block a few times to find a spot ourselves. Putting up a sign would be helpful.

Okey...here I am again trying a new burger in a new city. Ho Chi Minh aka Saigon in Vietnam known for Pho and Banh Mi...well I went into this burger joint and saw "Pho" burger on the menu. Heck - why not right? Well let me tell you, the first bite I had immediately felt like Pho. The flavours, the greens, the smell...omg. I don't know how they do it but it wasn't a gimmick, it actually tasted like Pho. Aaand it was delicious so go figure. If you like Pho and burgers do give this a try it might surprise you! The place is a bit fast food vibey, so it's not the most chill place but then again they just serve burgers so it's fine. Staff was very friendly.

Guess who's back with a serious craving? 🍔 I'm totally ready to dive into Marcel's Burger again! It's been 2 years since I last got my hands on one of those delicious creations. My taste buds are already doing a happy dance just thinking about it. Time to satisfy this burger obsession!
