The Story

About This Place

MEATPLUS & CHACHACHA THẢO ĐIỀN is a branch of an established Korean chain, originally rooted in Hanoi, that drew a loyal following before expanding south to District 2's expat-heavy strip. The kitchen's reputation is anchored in chadol — thinly sliced beef brisket cooked tableside — alongside pork and several non-marinated cuts for diners who prefer to taste the meat without seasoning intervention.

The banchan program is the other pillar. Kimchi in multiple preparations, fermented vegetables, and mashed pumpkin arrive in small dishes that are refilled without prompting, a signal that the kitchen isn't trimming costs on the sides. A spiced potato and meat soup provides warming, palatable heat alongside the grilled courses. Staff assist at the grill, an attentive touch that makes the format accessible to first-timers without removing the satisfaction of live fire.

The dining room is large and well-ventilated, with ample parking — practical advantages that matter when a group dinner is the goal, and that smaller Thao Dien spots can't match. Pricing is notably accessible: multiple accounts describe four people eating high-quality beef and drinking beer for around two million dong. That ratio of quality to cost, alongside the 4.8-star average across nearly 800 Google reviews, marks the restaurant as a consistent outlier in the neighborhood's dining landscape.

The crowd reflects Thao Dien's Korean-Vietnamese mix: Korean residents for whom the chadol reads as a credible home reference, Vietnamese diners drawn by the banchan variety, and expat families who followed the brand from Hanoi. Hours split across a lunch and dinner service, with a midday break between 2 and 5 PM. In a stretch dominated by Western brunch spots and fusion cafés, the restaurant occupies a distinct niche — high-volume Korean BBQ with evident attention to ingredient quality and room to seat a crowd.

To me Cha Cha Cha Thảo Điền is the best Korean BBQ place in HCMc. Love the banchan with a variety of kimchis everytime we come. The service is quick and professional. Most importantly, their price is ver reasonable.

The panchans are spice bombs, my favorites are kimchi, fermented vegetables and mashed pumpkin. The restaurant will keep refilling these small dishes for you so you know you’re in for a great dining experience. The food is fresh, there are non-marinated meat options which is a plus for me. Beef and pork taste good. The potato and meat soup are quite spicy in a palatable way. Overall, this is a place worth frequenting, check it out!

We appreciated the server’s assistance with grilling, though it would be great if they could stay to finish the task without needing to be called back. The meat was slightly tough, and offering a wider variety of side dishes could enhance the dining experience.

We love this place since in Hanoi. When we first moved to HCMC, we always wish they would move south. Now, the wish comes true, and guess what, the restaurant only 5 mins from our house. Best recommendation for you guys if you looking for Korean BBQ
