The Story

About This Place

Mountain Pearl Roastery occupies a small cornerstone space on Nguyễn Bá Huân, a residential street lined with greenery off the main Thao Dien grid. The menu centers entirely on coffee — baristas work from a rotating roster of beans and execute each order with deliberate attention to extraction, finishing with velvet milk foam and proper glassware. The signature cold brew carries a note of orange at 85,000 VND, one of the more distinctive single orders in the neighborhood. Latte and americano round out the daily lineup, each designed to reflect the underlying bean rather than mask it. A small bakery selection at around 30,000 VND per item was added recently.

The space fits a handful of guests comfortably — two or three people at most before it feels full — which suits the clientele it draws: locals who already know the alley entrance, specialty coffee seekers, and regulars who return for consistency over convenience. Despite its low profile from the street, the café runs busy most mornings, suggesting a following built on repeat visits rather than passing foot traffic from Xuan Thuy.

Staff walk first-time visitors through preparation differences and bean profiles, making the experience more instructive than a typical counter transaction. That unhurried approach rewards coffee-curious guests willing to slow down, though it has frustrated at least one customer expecting a faster turnaround. Prices sit at a premium relative to standard Thao Dien cafés, but the gap reflects genuine craft: bean sourcing, controlled preparation, and the kind of flavor complexity that most neighborhood spots do not attempt. Mountain Pearl Roastery is not a casual drop-in option — it's a destination for those who treat the drink as the point.

Very kind and helpful staff, they explained me their varied preparations for coffee. The shop is nice but it has limited capacity and not so comfortable seats.

Small coffee shop located in a cornerstone. It looks cozy and warm environment. It suitable for small group, 2 or 3 people as the space is small, but the service is really good. The menu is coffee only. The taste of the coffee is quite fresh and strong. Worth the price. Highly recommend

Two experiences here, and i have to applaud the concept, very brave and adventurous. Meticulous preparation and execution of each shot, finished with velvet milk foam and served in great cups and glasses. Flavours are intricate and detailed, and will probably not please regular franchise goers. If you're a wannabe coffee geek, find this place and coffee up. You'll not regret it.

Pretty nice but small coffee shop with premium prices and quality coffee. Tried the signature cold brew 85k vnd. It was pretty good, the orange is a nice touch of flavour for a very strong coffee. Overall recommend

A cool calm relax coffee place with nice barista. Have a selection of bean to choose from. Price range from 85k+ but it actually worths the experience. Latte, Ame & cold brew all have nice bean taste to try out one by one. New bakery selection quite good at price range around 30k each.
