The Story

About This Place

Om Momo occupies a small house in Thao Dien's residential lanes, its interior warm with considered décor and lighting that reads more living room than dining room. The menu is short by design — a handful of momo varieties, a couple of salads, and a few Tibetan mains — which reflects the kitchen's focus on getting each dish right rather than covering ground.

The momos come filled with chicken, beef, lamb, or mushroom, each wrapper carrying its own distinct flavor. The lamb version draws particular praise for its tenderness; the beef comes paired with a red sauce, the chicken with yellow. The Shapta — beef sautéed with peppers — appears repeatedly in reviews as a standout main beyond the dumplings themselves. The cucumber salad, dressed in a sauce notable enough that reviewers have singled it out by name, rounds out the lighter side of the menu alongside the Shogo, a dish of spiced potatoes that earns consistent mentions from first-time visitors.

The restaurant is run by an owner who brings visible enthusiasm for Tibetan food culture to each service, taking time to explain dishes and their origins to guests encountering this cuisine for the first time. That hospitality sets the tone throughout: attentive without being formal, personal without being intrusive.

Garden seating adds an outdoor option, though afternoon visits can bring mosquitoes. Indoors, the small dining room fills up but rarely requires advance bookings — tables turn slowly, and the pace reflects a meal meant to be unhurried.

For Thao Dien, where the dining scene runs heavily toward Western brunch spots and Vietnamese staples, this Tibetan kitchen occupies a specific niche: a short, focused menu executed with evident care, in a setting that draws repeat visitors back for the Shapta as much as the momos.

Amazing! Delicious food, cozy atmosphere, location in a beautiful place. Lamb and beef dumplings 🥟 are a must try, juicy and tender. Both salad options are great, but the cucumber salad is 10/10, I really wonder what kind of sauce they put in there 🥒👍🏻 Recommending to my friends and looking forward to my next visit!

It’s simply one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been in Saigon, and without doubt the best for dumplings! The momos, the warm atmosphere, the incredibly kind owners who also take time to explain the dishes, share stories about Tibetan cuisine… everything is perfect ! ✨ Will definitely recommend !

A charming Tibetan-style restaurant with a simple menu. I tried three types of momo, the quality was good, the staff were also attentive. Note: if you sit in the garden during the afternoon, there are quite a few mosquitoes.

Very good Tibetan Dumplings and other foods. We loved the Shapta beef and peppers. Both the chicken in yellow sauce and the beef in red sauce momos were great.

Hands down, the BEST restaurant I’ve been to in Vietnam. The food was incredible, so tasty and filling, satisfying, and a step above the rest. The service was THE BEST I’ve experienced!! It was so refreshing to have such excellent, attentive service and polite attitudes from start to finish. The owner was SO cute. So happy and smiley and genuinely I felt like she was made out of sugar that’s how sweet she was. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us, and making a stressful day turn super sweet. Also, we loved the atmosphere!
