I read some poor reviews and don't agree with them. I feel the food is clean unlike some others. There are no flies or garbage all over the floor. And for the person who says the meat is not grilled, they have the grill working in the back. The place was PACKED today, so there must be a reason for the crowd. Don't know about the bad reviews, but it's always consistent to me.

About This Place
Phở Hàng Đậu fills fast on Trần Văn Sắc — tables turn over steadily from the 6:30 AM open, and by midday the room is at capacity. The order that keeps regulars coming back is the wine-stewed beef phở: slow-braised meat with the depth of bò kho, dropped into a clear phở broth with generous portions relative to the price point. The charcoal grill at the back is operational, and the bún chả it produces — hand-rolled nem truyền thống alongside BBQ pork and fresh rice noodles — places the kitchen among the more reliable versions of that dish in the neighborhood.
The menu extends well beyond the two anchor items. Bún riêu comes in several forms: a full crab noodle soup with pork ribs, a crab paste vermicelli with pork ear built on a crab-and-shrimp broth, and a version garnished with osmanthus flowers. There is also a charcoal grilled pork noodle soup and a beef popiah noodle soup for those working through the full range. To drink, nước sấu — sweet-sour dragonplum juice — cuts through the heavier bowls, with mulberry juice and mineral water rounding out the options. The bistro framing shows in a separate section of the menu covering glazed donuts, cinnamon rolls, and a Bacon & Egg Muffin, which coexist with the Vietnamese staples without much friction.
Seating is primarily outdoors, which concentrates heat at midday and channels grill smoke toward the tables — practical considerations for anyone planning a 1 PM visit. Split hours (closing at 2:30 PM, reopening at 5:30 PM) make this more of a morning-and-lunch destination than an all-day option. For the Thao Dien mix of long-term expats and local families, it holds a clear position: Vietnamese staples at accessible prices, with enough consistency in the kitchen to sustain a genuinely loyal crowd.

Reviews
Highly recommend “wine stewed beef pho”! Delicious
Quite busy during lunch hours Supportive staffs, spacious space Good portion, tender meats, delicious dipping fish sauce, fresh veggies. Must try: bún chả (bbq pork, rice noodle, veggies) & nem truyền thống (fried spring roll). Drink: nước sấu (sweet & sour dragonplum juice)
One of the top two best bun cha spots in thảo điền and their pho is top tier as well
pho here is probably the best out of the 3 main dishes they offer (although I rarely feel like it). the meatballs in bun cha are really well made, however the other pork is often too chewy and is low quality meat. the bun rieu today, as underwhelming as it usually is, (due to the lack of ingredients but generous price of 45k) was terrible. bun rieu already isn’t the star of the show. but today’s serving was mostly oil in a broth that tastes not of much. consistency at this place has a 2:5 ratio.
