The Story

About This Place

Piko Coffee sits at the back of a compound on Nguyễn Đăng Giai, sharing a courtyard with a Japanese restaurant and an ice cream shop next door — an arrangement that gives it the feel of a small enclave rather than a standalone café. The interior follows a Japanese Zen aesthetic: minimal wooden fixtures, light tones, and a deliberate absence of clutter. A small outdoor patio faces the courtyard and catches a reliable breeze, making it a popular perch for laptop workers who stay well past their first order.

The Tiramisu Coffee is the standout drink — a cold coffee dusted with cocoa powder that mirrors the dessert it borrows from, cooling and distinct in the afternoon heat. Lattes run around 50,000 VND and come strong, made with locally sourced beans. Cheesecakes and pastries round out the short food menu without overreaching.

Orders are placed through a small window on the outside of the shop, a quirk that can feel slightly awkward once seated inside, but it adds to the café's unhurried rhythm. Free WiFi, attentive staff, and prices that are moderate for Thao Dien make it a reliable option for anyone needing a few quiet hours. The clientele skews toward expat residents and Vietnamese professionals, many of whom found it through a colleague rather than a map search — street visibility from Nguyễn Đăng Giai is close to zero.

Compared to the louder, more social cafés along Xuân Thủy, Piko Coffee trades foot traffic for calm. That trade-off is the whole point.

Piko Coffee (Thảo Điền) is a charming little spot that instantly feels cozy and intimate. The café is small but thoughtfully designed, with interesting details that give it a unique personality and make it feel more like a hidden neighborhood gem than a typical coffee shop. One distinctive aspect is the ordering process: customers place their orders through a small window outside the shop. While this adds a quirky touch, it can feel a bit unusual when you’re already seated inside and need to step back out just to order. Still, it’s part of what makes Piko different and memorable. The quality of the drinks really stands out. The coffee tastes excellent, and you can clearly tell it’s prepared with care and attention. The cheesecake is another highlight—smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet, which fits my taste perfectly. Every drink we tried felt thoughtfully made rather than rushed. That said, service speed can be on the slower side. During our visit, we noticed another customer returning to mention that their order was missing. Hopefully, with a bit more refinement in order management and delivery flow, this can be improved. Overall, Piko Coffee is a lovely place to slow down and enjoy well-crafted drinks and desserts in a cozy setting. With some small operational tweaks, it has the potential to become an even more enjoyable and reliable café for regular visits. ☕✨

It's cafe located in the back from the street. It's cozy and comfortable. Chairs are not excellent though, but the atmosphere was nice. The price is not low because even located in the back yard, it's still in Thao Dien. Actually it's not expensive though. Anyway, I admit it's fancy place, and I like it.

Nice little coffee place hidden in Thao Dien. Would not have discovered this place if not for my Vietnamese colleague bringing me there. Piko Coffee is in the same compound as the Japanese restaurant and an oasis on its own. The place serve quite interesting drinks and cheese cakes. Tried the Tiramisu Coffee and it is really refreshing and looks like Tiramisu cake with coco powder covering the top part of the drink. Environment is nice and the quiet and the place offer free WiFi. One can easily spend the afternoon working at the place and enjoying good coffee.
