The restaurant is tucked away in a charming little alley, which immediately gives it a cool, inviting atmosphere. It feels like the kind of hidden spot you stumble upon and are glad you did. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that the staff care about what they do. The restaurant is clean, the space is thoughtfully kept, and the service is attentive without feeling intrusive. That said, when it comes to execution and the way the ingredients are brought together, the kitchen unfortunately misses the mark in several places. Mango Karaage The first dish was the Mango Karaage. In many ways, it reminded me of orange chicken. I enjoyed the sauce, and the overall flavor profile was pleasant enough. The chicken itself was cooked well. However, the issue appeared when biting into the chicken. Some oil began to seep out. It was not excessive, but it created a slightly unpleasant sensation that distracted from what was otherwise a fairly decent dish. Char Siu Rice The second dish was the char siu rice. The rice was cooked nicely, the egg was well prepared, and the vegetables were handled properly as well. Each of these components contributed to the good flavor of the dish. Unfortunately, the char siu, which should have been the centerpiece of the plate, did not deliver. It lacked the classic balance of sweetness and savory depth that defines good char siu. The texture also fell short, missing the tenderness that the dish is known for. Simply put, the star of the dish did not perform. Noodle Dish The final dish was a noodle dish. The sauce tasted somewhat curry-like to me and leaned heavily toward the rich side. The noodles themselves were Chinese egg noodles, thin and curly. Because of their shape, when you twirl them with a fork, they pick up a generous amount of sauce in each bite. Normally this would be a pleasant feature, but because the sauce was quite heavy, the dish quickly became overwhelming. After a few bites, instead of feeling satisfying, it started to feel overly rich. I eventually stopped halfway through the plate. Overall, this is an interesting restaurant with a lot of promise. I appreciate the effort and creativity behind the menu, and the prices are quite reasonable. It is still a place worth trying. I am rooting for the young chefs and their creativity. With stronger execution and better balance in the dishes, this place could become something truly special. I genuinely disliked the chairs. They are very uncomfortable. Because the back of the chair sits unusually high, it prevents you from resting your arms naturally and forces them inward in a restrictive way. It made the seating experience noticeably unpleasant.

Society Cafe & Dining - Cafe in Ho Chi Minh City
Reviews
A great cafe with food location. You'll notice here that there is no grease smell even tho the kitchen is the center of the layout. The drink options are limited and the menu host a variety of options. The dishes were great, a bit pricey but the portions were worth it. The staff were attentive. I would definitely come back for the food, not the drinks.
My family and I had a very good experience dining here at Society Cafe & Dining. We ordered Roasted pork in perilla, Karaage with mango sauce, Taiwanese fried chicken tenders with tamarind sauce (our fave), Drunken chicken with bang bang salad, Fried squid, Society's fried rice, Charsiu with rice, and Jashminzu. All the food was awesome. They reflected the care and the talent from the cook. The staffs are very attentive as well! Highly recommend!
๐ ๐ฒ๐น๐ฏ๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ (๐ด๐ฑ๐ธ ๐๐ป๐ฑ): this is a cold brew drink with cream foam and a hint of orange and nutmeg. This reminds me a lot of Mont Blanc in Melbourne but the tanginess in the drinks was not that similar compared to original Mont Blanc. . ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐ฒ (๐ญ๐ฏ๐ฌ๐ธ ๐๐ป๐ฑ): sweet and tangy mango sauce with deep fried chicken was delicious and unique in flavour . ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ป๐ ๐ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐๐๐ผ ๐ก๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐น๐ฒ (๐ญ๐ด๐ฌ๐ธ ๐๐ป๐ฑ): pesto sauce was very nutty combining well with noodles and tasty baked prawns . The highlight here for most dishes was the generous portion.
The experience and food started out really good. The fried chicken and cha sui rice had a good flavour. However, the pesto shrimp was where everything fell apart. They served shrimp that went bad and smelled bad. After trying to get a waiter over to explain the issue, the waiter just said it was the pesto and that foreigners don't like the taste of the herbs. After trying to explain (in Vietnamese) that it wasn't the herbs but the shrimp, they just said no and left us alone. They didn't try to make it right, not even an apology. I wouldn't come back.
