Nice courtyard coffee shop, drinks almost have plant-based ingredients and they all taste very good. 👍
Zero Plant-based Thảo Điền - Eatery & Café - Vegetarian cafe and deli in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Zero Plant-Based operates out of a covered outdoor courtyard on a quiet lane off the main Thao Dien strip, which gives it a different pace from the louder café clusters nearby. The space holds up equally well for a morning laptop session or a slow lunch — there's WiFi, card payment accepted, and staff attentive enough to redirect a fan or top up a water glass without being asked.
The menu is entirely plant-based, no exceptions. The bánh mì gao Katsu Kimchi is the item that comes up most consistently in reviews: a dense, flavor-forward sandwich that pulls from both Vietnamese street tradition and Korean pantry staples. The croissant program is also a cut above standard café pastry — the almond matcha version is the one regulars mention by name. On the drinks side, the coconut coffee and salted caramel latte are the most frequently praised; the chocolate Einspanner offers a darker, less sweet alternative.
What distinguishes the place in a neighborhood with no shortage of café options is consistency rather than spectacle. The setting is unfussy, the service is engaged without being performative, and the all-vegan menu covers enough ground — bakery, bánh mì, Vietnamese coffee, specialty drinks — to justify more than one visit reason. Four locations across Saigon signal an operational baseline that shows in the execution; the product doesn't feel like it's running on goodwill alone.
The Thao Dien outpost draws expat residents grinding through the morning hours, plant-based regulars, and first-timers drawn in by the banh mi reputation who tend to return.
