Personally, I think the beef tongue would taste better if it were cooked a little more. It would be nice to have an à la carte beef tongue option without rice and soup to go with a bottle of cold beer! The owner was friendly. It’s a great place if you’re looking for reasonably priced beef tongue.

That was excellent. Japanese charcoal grilled beef tongue, served with rice, veggies and a sort of chutney + soup. Meat is juicy and tender, the soup was also delicious, had a strong beef flavor and had many small pieces of meat. The restaurant is discreet, located near the river. I chose size M "Gyutan", and meat quantity was more than enough
I never expected to find such delicious beef tongue in Ho Chi Minh City. The moment I took my first bite, I was instantly reminded of Sendai. The meticulous preparation, the perfect salt seasoning that has fully penetrated the meat—everything is spot on. The bite-sized portions make it easy to eat. It’s grilled over charcoal, with just the right amount of heat. You can also enjoy a flavor change with miso. It’s tender yet retains the distinctive texture of beef tongue. Simply outstanding. And then there’s the lemon. This small detail makes a big difference. In Ho Chi Minh, citrus fruits like lime are common, but lemons are a bit more expensive. However, for Japanese people, beef tongue is best with lemon. This shows the owner’s attention to detail. The presentation is flawless—a black plate beautifully arranged with yellow, red, green, white, and brown, making for a visually perfect dish. I was completely satisfied. The soup is also packed with rich umami flavor, as the beef tongue has been simmered to perfection. It was an exceptional dining experience. The owner speaks Japanese and has trained in Sendai, demonstrating true expertise. As a Japanese person, I was genuinely happy to see someone bringing the techniques of serving delicious beef tongue from Japan to Ho Chi Minh. I will definitely be coming back. There is also a second location nearby that specializes in curry. I’d love to try that as well. The photo shows the L-size portion, priced at 150,000 VND.
Aside from the quaint setting, this restaurant PACKS a punch with their delicious signature dish - curry. I came with little expectation, but they were apparently more than met the eyes. The dishes were very well made with consideration on the beef doneness, customized according to the patrons' wish. Really hope they can make it big with this. And hey, tips of advice: please leave tissue and toothpick out on the tables - we do love that readily available amenities. P.S: Heard about the owner being a Japanese boxer turned chef. Kudos to you and wish you the best on your journey in Betonamu. Banzai!
It's Japanese Cơm Tấm shop. They serve beef tang. This was really good. The value for the price is really good. It's much better than Vietnamese Com Tam as Japanese point of view, not sure for Vietnamese though Lol. But my Vietnamese friend was also impressed by this. And It seems like many of the customers are Japanese, and also the owner is Japanese.
