MAD House tọa lạc trên một sân thượng rộng rãi, thoáng gió ở một con hẻm yên tĩnh tại Thao Dien, với nội thất xanh tự nhiên tạo nên không khí thư giãn — đối lập nhẹ nhàng với thực đơn mang hơi hướng phương Tây. Bếp ở đây khéo léo dung hòa hai thế giới ẩm thực: bún thịt nướng sánh vai cùng hamburger được đánh giá cao, và đĩa chorizo — thịt cắt mỏng, baguette nướng tươi, mù tạt xay thô, olives cùng dưa muối — đã thu hút một lượng thực khách quen thuộc xem đây là món khai vị phải gọi mỗi lần đến.
Bếp núc của nhà hàng được định hình bởi hai sự kiện định kỳ tạo nên nhịp sinh hoạt riêng. Vào Chủ nhật, thực đơn roast thay đổi luân phiên giữa bò, gà và xúc xích theo hình thức nướng thoải mái, ăn kèm salad, khoai tây, bắp cải nướng và nhiều loại sốt, giá khoảng 25 đô mỗi người. Tối thứ Năm là đêm hải sản với sò điệp và hàu giảm giá, thường thu hút một lượng khách nhỏ hơn, phù hợp với không gian vốn đã khá yên tĩnh của nơi này. Một góc vườn nhỏ với hai chú thỏ sống là điểm thu hút thật sự với các gia đình có con nhỏ, và ban nhạc live đã được ghi nhận trong một số buổi Sunday brunch.
Thực khách quen thuộc phần lớn là cộng đồng người nước ngoài sinh sống lâu dài tại Thao Dien, bị thu hút một phần bởi đội ngũ nhân viên nói tiếng Anh tốt và nhịp độ phục vụ thư thả. Mức giá ở tầm trung so với khu vực — tương xứng với không gian và khẩu phần, dù thực đơn bữa sáng có đôi chỗ thiếu đồng đều, đặc biệt với món pancake. Danh sách bia gồm IPA, Heineken và TeTe weiss, nhận được đánh giá trái chiều về chất lượng thực hiện. Công trình xây dựng lân cận được phản ánh là nguồn ồn ào vào ban ngày; sân thượng trở lại vẻ yên tĩnh tự nhiên sau 5 giờ chiều — đây cũng là khung giờ không gian nơi này đạt đỉnh về mặt không khí.
The vibe of the restaurant was great, and the staff were super friendly. We went on a Thursday evening, and there was practically no one there so it was very quiet and nice. The food was good, I particularly enjoyed the scallops and oysters (on Thursday evenings they have a sea food promotion where it’s a bit cheaper). We were sad to hear that they would be closing at the end of the month! Definitely would recommend going at least once before they close.
Great little spot with an open terrace, green organic decor, and great food. Can’t remember what it was called but I ordered the Vietnamese dish among a mainly western oriented menu and it was just perfect! Great waiting staff with fluid communication and good English skills! We’ve been to MAD House many times but today was the first time for their Sunday brunch. They had a “roast” which as an American I would call a bbq but it was delicious. They had beef, chicken and a sausage. The chicken was amazing and the other two were good. You can make multiple trips up to the bbq to get seconds. They also serve you a salad, potatoes and some grilled cabbage that was great along with a few sauces for the meats. This is about $25 which I thought was reasonable. Today the weather was great to sit outside and they had live music which was a good band playing songs in Spanish. Would highly recommend MAD House.
These days next to MAD House, there’s a building under construction so it’s kinda annoying if you’re here during the day. But after 5pm, when they stop working, MAD House is get back to their usual vibes. Spacious and quiet. Prices are okay and totally reasonable for the food and drink quality and also for the vibes.
The place is nice but they need to improve the quality of food. My pancake was dry and very dense. The banana was not caramelised and the scrambled eggs was a just another sad story. With the price that they are charging, I’d rather go to Mekong Merchant.
