One River - Mekong Eatery - Southeast Asian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

We passed One River Mekong Eatery walking to and from our hotel (Hotel Indigo) and stopped to look at its menu because the restaurant itself it look intriguing and beautiful from the outside. We wound up dining there twice for dinner, and were delighted both times. This is a fine dining restaurant, which is reflected in the prices (high for Vietnam, but inexpensive by US metropolitan area standards). The service was excellent. My only complaint would be that some of the staff didn't understand English very well (but if that was the case, they quickly brought over someone else who did). We appreciated that the menu consisted of dishes from all over the Mekong Delta region: southern Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. It's open for lunch and dinner. There is a nice selection of drinks, both alcoholic and mocktails. The menu is quite large and handed to you on an iPad. It was easy to navigate, but might be off-putting to older customers. I assume that they also have a paper menu. There are so many choices, it's a bit overwhelming at first. Everything that we ordered was absolutely delicious. We usually ordered one or two salads or appetizers, one or two main dishes, and (one time) dessert. I especially enjoyed the delicate Mekong Fish, which was topped with fragrant fresh herbs and vegetables. The salads were equally enjoyable. It has been a few weeks since my trip so I don't remember exactly what that we ordered, but I truly believe that there are no bad choices at this restaurant. You will be immersed in authentic Mekong Delta cuisine. The restaurant itself is beautiful and modern. I loved the quiet and sophisticated atmosphere, which greets you at the front entrance with its lovely little garden. I think that if even if you weren't going there for lunch or dinner, it would be a nice spot to sit at the bar for a drink and some elevated snacks. If you are staying at one of the hotels in the area, or anywhere in District 1, I highly recommend that you check out One River Mekong Eatery. We considered it a gem of a find, right near our hotel. Such a joy!

Echoing what others have said below, what an excellent restaurant. Accidentally found One River after sinking few beers next door at HOD Tap House. Despite only being open for 8 months, 5 stars all the way. Food excellent, modern, bright and super tasty. Cocktails, spicy and interesting. Service professional and friendly with plenty of chit chat (was eating on my own). Cannot wait to come back. Another top quality addition to one of Asia’s leading food destinations. I had a great experience at One River Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City! The food was so delicious, authentic, and full of flavor. Every dish was fresh and beautifully prepared, this was easily one of my favourite meals during my stay in this city! The staff were extremely friendly, attentive, and welcoming and the atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a nice meal. Definitely worth trying

5/5 🌟 Hidden gem in Ho Chi Minh City! The restaurant seems quite new, but the experience was excellent. We were warmly welcomed by the staff, and the place is cosy with good air conditioning. The food was surprisingly one of the best we’ve had in HCM so far. Highly recommend their fried prawn is super crispy and their betel leave meat roll is very flavorful. Definitely worth a visit!
