Chef Thiện French Bistro - French restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

4/2026 Food was average and specifically the steak very poor. Maybe other dishes are better but those in the set menu were disappointing.

Great affordable French food in a small cozy restaurant. The duck confit was cooked nicely not too dry and the foie gras was really great, seared perfectly with juicy fats

Small western restaurant, focus in French cuisine. Everything was very good, and the prices were in line with the quality. The service was also good! The salads were hearty, both very tasty. And the wild salmon was exquisite. This place was a great surprise. The space is tiny, so I recommend making a reservation just in case!

So disappointed by our steak, tasted off and gristly. Sauce for steak was served in a tiny 2 divider sauce dish. Both sauces lacked flavour and hardly enough of either. As one of the other comments said the best thing at the restaurant is the bread. Nothing else was good including our pesto pasta too. INCREDIBLY overpriced. So many other good steak places for cheaper. Not sure how this has such high ratings. I came here once for a haircut upstairs in this same alley and it was the worst haircut of my life. I’m never coming back to this alley way. Can’t recommend to come here for French or western food again.

Tasty french food tucked inside a hidden alley. Cozy ambiance with respectful staff. I got the onion soup, fois gras, duck breasts, and crème brulée - and they were all delicious. Good for a nice dinner with people or even by yourself. I really wanted to eat so I spent a bit more but I think price is reasonable. Highly recommended.
