An upscale hotpot restaurant that is suitable for the family. We ordered a combo and extra dishes of beef and noodle. The broth was simple but flavorful, the veggie was fresh, and the quality of meat was superior. We were sitting outside, and they had a cooling fan to ensure we could enjoy the hotpot despite the hot weather. The staff was professional to walk us through the entire meal.

Ashima Tú Xương - Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
Reviews
This place is part of a larger corporation of restaurants in Vietnam, ranging from hotpot to BBQ. It’s a very premium hotpot experience that makes every other hotpot I’ve tried taste like dollar store hotpot lol. Idk how else to put this, it just tastes so luxurious. Just walking into the restaurant, you already sense the elegant fragrance. This hotpot restaurant focuses on mushrooms, and has a large variety of exotic (relative to the ones we find in Canada), rare and luxury fungi (in addition to more familiar ones, such as enoki mushrooms). There are also specialty meat options, such as softshell turtles and Hmong chicken (along with more familiar options, such as cuts of beef). I seriously want to order every mushroom on the menu so I can try them all, but of course that’s way too much, so I just ordered some recommended ones. Mushrooms • Nấm gan bò sữa đỏ (100g) 209.000 VND • Nấm vuốt hổ đen (100g) 189.000 VND • Nấm tùng nhung quý (100g) 219.000 VND • Nấm gan bò mỹ vị (100g) 119.000 VND • Nấm bụng dê (100g) 219.000 VND • Nấm nhung hươu (100g) 119.000 VND • Nâm Đông Trùng Hạ Thảo 189.000 VND Meat/Seafood • Sườn non bò mỹ hảo hạng không xương 439.000 VND • Cá chình 649.000 VND • Gà H'Mông Other • Mì Ashima • Bí nụ 69.000 VND Not only was the food amazing, the service was also amazing. Our waitress saw me taking pictures of the meal, so she held up each item for me so I could take unobstructed photos! I would say most memorable to me would be Nâm Đông Trùng Hạ Thảo (ophiocordyceps sinensis), it has a nice crunch, and also Nấm gan bò mỹ vị and Nấm nhung hươu!!! H'Mông chicken looks like the silkie, but it is quite different, especially if you see it with feathers. The meat is also much firmer (in a good way).
I first ate at Ashima a long time ago, back when I wasn’t vegetarian yet. Recently, I had the chance to return, and I noticed a few interesting details. Ashima’s restroom shows an unusually thoughtful consideration for female guests compared to many other mid-to-high-end restaurants. There is a dedicated tray with essential items such as cotton swabs, hair ties, and tiny cloths for wiping small stains. The level of attention to detail genuinely surprised me. As for the food, perhaps because I now eat a lot of vegetarian meals, the hotpot at Ashima no longer feels particularly special to me. The mushroom broth is light and naturally sweet, paired with common vegetables and mushrooms—quite similar to what many mainstream restaurants offer today. I wouldn’t rate the food very highly. There was, however, a minor downside in the service. Staff members communicate using desk phones or walkie-talkies with the speaker turned up quite loud, so guests can clearly hear the entire conversation. This slightly affects the dining experience.
Great food than ever! You can never find such high quality & high variants of mushroom in anywhere else except here in Ashima. Beef is delicious; vegetable are fresh! Staff is extremely friendly. They serve you in every small step and always smile! 👏👏👏 Price is high but worth! Definitely you will not regret! Highly recommended! 👍🏼
I recently visited Ashima for a small get-together with a group of 4–5 people. We were lucky to book the only private room in the restaurant, which I heard is quite hard to get. It’s a cozy space with a round table, perfect for more private conversations or hosting guests in a quieter setting. If you’re planning to go, I’d definitely recommend booking this room in advance. Now onto the food – I have to be honest, the dishes didn’t really match my personal taste. Ashima specializes in mushroom hotpot with a health-conscious, “clean eating” concept. It’s clearly a place that many people love (the restaurant was full when we went), so I think it just wasn’t the right fit for me, rather than the food being bad. The ingredients were fresh, the presentation was nice – it just didn’t hit the spot for my palate. We also ordered a bottle of sake, and I really liked that they offer to serve it warm – it made the meal feel a bit more special. That said, the overall bill came out to just over 5 million VND, which felt quite steep, especially since only 3–4 of us were eating seriously. So yes, I would say it’s on the pricier side. What I did appreciate was the attentive service. The staff were polite, friendly, and quite helpful throughout the meal. The interior design is elegant and relaxing – definitely suitable if you’re looking for a peaceful dining environment away from the usual hustle. Overall rating: 7/10. I wouldn’t say it’s a must-return for me, mainly because of my own taste preferences, but if you’re into light, clean flavors and appreciate a refined setting with great service, Ashima could still be a good option to try.
