The Story

About This Place

Avenue Coffee sits behind an understated façade on Quốc Hương that gives no indication of the generous interior beyond the door — wide, modern, and noticeably quiet even on weekday mornings. The gap between exterior and interior is one of the more commented-on details among regulars, who describe the space as unexpectedly premium for a street-level café in Thảo Điền. Weekends, counterintuitively, are the quietest: foot traffic thins and ambient noise drops to near-silence, making it a reliable address for anyone needing genuine focus time. Staff are consistently described as attentive and well-trained, and the bathrooms — a detail that surfaces in multiple reviews without prompting — are kept in noticeably good condition.

The food menu is tighter than many of its neighbors, with no sprawling lunch offer, though at least one regular has noted that gap. What the kitchen produces it handles well. Waffles come with a fruit compote, light honey, and heavy cream — a composed plate rather than an afterthought. Egg coffee draws specific praise, with comparisons to some of the better versions available in Vietnam; coconut coffee earns similar notes. The pain au chocolat paired with a morning coffee is a dependable combination, and tiramisu has appeared in reviews as a standout finish. Fresh juices and pho round out a menu that leans toward morning and midday rather than dinner.

Pricing sits toward the reasonable end for Thảo Điền's increasingly expensive café scene, which makes the calculus easier for a long working session. Among the neighborhood's many options for laptop work, this address distinguishes itself through a combination of real quiet, a well-maintained environment, and a kitchen that prioritizes quality over range.

Quiet & good place to work, especially in the weekend almost no one here. Their bathroom always clean & well cared, staff is supportive, friendly (both the waiter to security, seem like they got well trained.) Price is also good in TD area, but just hope they have some more options for light lunch. One of my favorite places to work in the weekend.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Avenue Coffee-40A, the one of the finest cafes and restaurants, and I must say, the experience was delightful. The atmosphere was inviting, and the food was exceptional. I sampled the Pho, and the aroma and flavor were truly impressive—perfectly balanced, neither too heavy nor too simplistic. Additionally, the coffee and croissant were both delicious, and I highly recommend trying the gourmet Tiramisu; it was a standout. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience. Also, reasonable price!😊
