Fellini - Italian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Fellini sits at 26B Thảo Điền, on the stretch of road that anchors the neighbourhood's dining scene. The name references Federico Fellini, the Italian filmmaker — a small signal about the sensibility behind the place. With a 4.7-star average across 68 Google reviews, it ranks among the more consistently rated Italian options in the district, suggesting regulars who return rather than one-time visitors leaving inflated scores.
Thao Dien has no shortage of Italian restaurants competing for the expat and long-term resident crowd, and the daily 11 AM–10:30 PM schedule makes Fellini one of the few that covers both a proper lunch sitting and a relaxed dinner without the compressed hours common to smaller neighbourhood spots. The address puts it within walking distance of the Thảo Điền residential blocks rather than buried in the An Phú cluster, which tends to draw a more local neighbourhood feel than the tourist-facing dining strips closer to the river.
Without a scraped menu on file, specific dishes cannot be detailed here — but the Italian focus and rating trajectory suggest a kitchen keeping reasonable standards across the board. For anyone scouting Italian options in District 2, the review volume and score warrant a visit over the lower-rated alternatives on the same street.

Reviews
My wife and I had a lovely dinner here on Valentines Day. Nick and Sven are great hosts and the food is fantastic. And a very well selected short list of wines. Thank you!
A small, cozy, and lovely Italian restaurant, very authentic. It has only been open for a short time. The service is excellent, and the food is delicious. Portions are generous, and you can really tell the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into each dish. We absolutely loved it and highly recommend it. It’s a great choice for a special occasion, everyday dining, or even a meal with friends. Prices are very reasonable, and the service is also excellent. It’s advisable to make a reservation, as the place is quite small, even though it has two floors and probably around ten tables in total.
I’ve come to Fellini twice and it always surprises me the quality of it’s ingredients and the warm of their host. It is by far one of the best Italian restaurants in the city, it looks and feels like a small osteria in a small town in la capagna romana. Their owners, while not Italian, carry out the tradition impeccably, with every dish full of international ingredients and the care of a mamma or Nona If you want the cozy and private environment to celebrate an important meal, this is the place to go in Thao Dien
Fellini is run by a few young Swiss entrepreneurs, and it’s exactly the spot you need if you’re a bit tired of the sweeter side of Vietnamese food and craving something creamy, salty, fresh, and simple – proper Italian done right. The space is refined but not overly fancy, and the hospitality really shines through. The menu is strong without being overly complex or large, which I always appreciate. I went with the chef-recommended burrata on toasted tomatoes to start – outstanding – and then had the carbonara, made traditionally with their own imported guanciale. It completely satisfied the craving I’ve had for authentic carbonara. Only two reds by the glass, but the Montepulciano house wine was delicious, and I was seriously impressed by the bottle selection overall – not huge, but with some real shining stars like the Tommasi Valpolicella from Verona. Ended up chatting with Nick, one of the owners, at the bar – great guy, wonderful conversation. What makes it even better is that you can pair a meal here with a visit to Piccolo, the excellent cocktail bar right next door, either before or after. Looking forward to coming back soon. Highly recommend locals add Fellini to their regular rotation and tourists make it their go-to for satisfying Italian cravings in HCMC. Small spot, but seriously strong.
