Omakase in Vietnam! Sous Chef Nguyen Thi Hong did a great job with the grill when my friend isn’t really a fan of raw food/ sashimi. staff Le Cam Tu is super nice and friendly. 5 STARS Recommendation. P.S. this is just one of the several Omakase menus. The table next to us had the Big Abalone set which is really huge and I believe truly worth the price.

Yakiuo Ishikawa Saigon - Authentic Japanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
Reviews
Pure fish perfection at Yakiuo Ishikawa! If you love seafood, this spot is an absolute must-visit. They specialize exclusively in fish (no red meat here!), and every single dish is incredibly fresh and pristine. I loved how thoughtfully the menu was curated, alternating rich, fatty dishes with clean, non-fatty cuts to perfectly balance the palate. Pro tip: Pair your meal with the yuzu umeshu—the bright, citrusy notes complement the fish beautifully! To top it all off, the service from My and Tu was so lovely and warm, making the whole dining experience feel incredibly special. Can’t wait to come back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Interesting tasting experience, definitely very unique take on fish Omakase. We enjoyed it thoroughly and our chef/server Tu was fantastic! Surprisingly the best service experience we had on this trip and I typically don’t say that lightly. 100% recommend for anyone interested in trying something new and different.
I had my very first omakase experience at Yakiuo Ishikawa Saigon, and it was an unforgettable one. Chef Tu made the experience even more enjoyable with her friendly personality and warm hospitality. She guided us through each course, explaining the ingredients, preparation, and the best way to enjoy every dish, which made the experience especially comfortable for first-timers. I don’t eat uni, and I really appreciated that the team thoughtfully offered a substitution without any hesitation. It was a great example of their attention to guests’ preferences and excellent service. Every course was beautifully presented, with incredibly fresh, high-quality ingredients and delicious flavors. The restaurant has an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect place for a special occasion or anyone wanting to try omakase for the first time. Thank you to Chef Tu and the entire team for such a memorable dining experience. I would definitely return the next time I’m in Ho Chi Minh City!
While the quality of the ingredients and the overall dining experience were satisfactory, I was genuinely disappointed by the apparent lack of attention to basic food hygiene practices. During the service, I observed a staff member handling food with noticeably long gel-polished nails. More concerningly, there were instances of touching hair and various surrounding surfaces before returning to direct food handling without any visible handwashing or sanitization. In an establishment operating within the omakase tradition—where meticulous craftsmanship, precision, and hygiene are expected to be held to the highest standards—such observations were rather disconcerting. Given the price point, I had anticipated a far greater level of professionalism and attention to food safety. Unfortunately, this aspect significantly diminished my confidence in the overall experience.
