Loved the food – flavourful, comforting Taiwanese dishes that really hit the spot. The only downside is that there can be a bit of a wait to get seated and for food to come out, especially during peak hours. That said, their new cocktails menu are amazing and made the wait feel way more enjoyable. My recommendation for alcoholic drinks: Drunken Tofu, Pineapple Cake Sour and Beef Noodles Highball (that literally tastes like a bow of Taiwanese noodles beef soup but in a highball glass)

Yeshi Taiwanese Kitchen - Taiwanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Yeshi runs a tight evening service—doors open at 6 PM and the room fills fast. The kitchen focuses on Taiwanese comfort food executed with care: dumplings that are juicy and properly seasoned, a tong hao salad that catches first-timers off guard, and a mala fried chicken with a crisp exterior and real heat from the cay sauce. Portions are kept deliberately small, which nudges the table toward ordering broadly and sharing rather than committing to a single plate.
The cocktail program has become a draw in its own right. The Beef Noodles Highball—designed to taste like a bowl of Taiwanese beef noodle soup in spirit form—generates more conversation than most dishes. The Pineapple Cake Sour and Drunken Tofu complete a short list that pairs naturally with the spicier food. Pineapple beer sits at the lighter end for those skipping spirits.
Located at 16 Thảo Điền, the space is well-appointed and pulls a mixed crowd of expats and local diners looking for something outside the neighborhood's heavier Western-restaurant tilt. The layout and atmosphere suit date nights and small groups more than large parties—the energy of the room works better at four than at ten. Staff have been consistently noted for warmth and attentiveness, particularly during busy stretches when the dining room hits capacity.
The food sits on the lighter, less salt-forward end of the Chinese-Taiwanese spectrum, which broadens its appeal without softening the flavors that make the menu interesting. Timing matters: arriving close to opening on a weekend avoids the wait that builds through the evening. Closed Mondays.

I love Yeshi. Everything about this place is great, I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves. Perfect for a date or a night out with friends, it’s the kind of place where the atmosphere truly matches what’s served on the plate ❤️
I've been waiting a while to try this place and was not disappointed. We walked in shortly after opening and the place was already almost full. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a great atmosphere. We were sat very quickly and the server didn't take too long to come and take our order, yet communication with her was a bit tricky. It felt like she didn't really understand our questions. Other than that, our quick dinner visit to Yeshi was great. While I am no expert in Taiwanese food, all the dishes we ordered were delicious and nicely presented. I felt the flavours were very accurately bold, yet not overpowering. And the eggplant dish really was as good as they say, maybe even better. So, would I go back? Yes, there are so many other dishes I want to try!
The staff are so attentive and welcoming. We were served by Trinh most of the night and she was so kind and lovely. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is fabulous! We will definitely come back.
Absolutely loved our visit! We were a group of three and everything we ordered was fantastic. The dumplings were perfectly cooked—tender and full of flavor. The noodles had great texture and were seasoned just right. The standout dish was the fried chicken with mala cay sauce—super crispy and packed with a spicy kick! We also tried the pineapple beer, which was refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. What made the experience even better was how kind and welcoming the staff were. They took the time to explain the dishes and shared insights about Taiwanese cuisine, which made us appreciate the meal even more. The price is incredibly reasonable for the quality of food and service—great value all around. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Taiwanese food!
