BELGO NGUYEN VAN THU - BELGIAN CRAFT BEER & RESTAURANT - Belgian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

I love waffles, so when I came to a Belgian restaurant, I knew for sure that's what I was going to order. Unfortunately, they turned out to be the worst waffles of my life. They weren't sweet at all and tasted more like bland ciabatta and yeast. It was terrible -I could barely force down half and couldn't eat any more. Everything else was top-notch, though: great service and delicious beer.

Came here for a drink after dinner in the area. The restaurant is big and has two floors. It's definitely a good place for gatherings with friends. I liked the industrial decor, and the overall design is focused on the air well between the two floors. The menu is Western, perhaps a mix of Belgian and Alpine. I enjoyed the beer flight since I couldn't decide which beer to go with. The chocolate fondue was also delightful. Overall, the experience was wholesome.

I did not had to travel back to Belgium to have the amazing beer selection…Belgo has it all…the Belgian Cherry beer OMG so delicious I had 5 of the 50cl and felt like getting more…I do recommend you ask for the taster flight and you can decide from there…cheers…

I just opened one of the bottles I bought here and carried halfway around the world to enjoy them at home, so I thought a 5-star review was needed now. I came in here to the southern-located restaurant in Saigon a couple of weeks ago merely by accident and was warmly welcomed at the entrance by the evening's host even though I stated I only wanted to drink 1-2 beers. Even after that, she offered me a table on a Saturday, which was surprising but noted. I declined, as I know as a former bartender and F&B manager myself every table on a Saturday is supposed to rake in some cash, so I took a chair at the bar. Fortunately, to my surprise, it was Happy Hour. Unfortunately, two of the beer choices from the keg I wanted to try and that piqued my interest at the entrance were already sold out, including the one I'm actually drinking right now, beer "Royale", which is delicious. An exciting mixture of ripe pears, apple crisp, and Vietnamese spices I'm not able to identify, but that doesn't matter... The beer sommelier on shift was an exquisite help finding alternatives. Sitting at the bar, I saw they had cardboard carrier bags, so I realized the bottles behind the bar were not for decoration, so I bought another 6 bottles... As a German who grew up around hops and earned his first few coins during harvest, I can just definitely state these guys know what they're doing, even down here, and you probably won't find a better selection of beer in all of East Asia, including Australia, who know nothing about beer to begin with... Next time I come for Belgian fries!
