The Story

About This Place

A bright-orange storefront on Phạm Ngũ Lão signals Bagel Brothers well before anyone steps inside. Bagels are baked fresh each morning and the selection spans crowd favorites like the bacon & egg and the roasted pumpkin—slow-roasted squash layered with avocado, sun-dried tomatoes and rocket—alongside a vegan version and gluten-free options that rarely appear at comparable spots elsewhere in the city. The salmon cream cheese stacks premium smoked salmon over double-whipped Philadelphia with capers, while the pulled pork arrives lacquered in a house BBQ sauce under melted cheddar. Combo sets pairing a bagel with a Melbourne latte or fresh coconut hover around 130,000 VND, making early breakfasts here among the more straightforward value propositions in this part of District 1. The interior leans retro: orange walls, old-school Nintendo consoles near the counter, pop music running at a volume that keeps things moving. Upstairs seating accommodates small groups; the counter setup works just as well for a quick takeaway. Doors open at 6:30 AM Monday through Wednesday and Friday, a practical window for anyone heading out early; Thursday and Saturday hours end at 2 PM, and the shop is closed Sundays. The English-speaking staff and international menu draw a steady mix of expats and travellers from the Phạm Ngũ Lão strip, though the 4.8-star average across 438 Google reviews suggests a broader following. One practical note: popular varieties—seeded bagels in particular—can sell out by early afternoon on busy days, so morning visits give the fullest picture of what the kitchen produces.

The bagels are delicious, especially the pumpkin bagel. Amazingly they also have gluten free bagels which are also delicious. The staff was friendly. Highly recommend this place.

The food itself was great; however, for a business whose USP is its bagels and variety, repeatedly running out of seeded bagels well before closing time was disappointing. On two consecutive days, key bagel options were unavailable by 4pm and then again by 2pm, despite the store operating until 8pm. We arrived in the city in the afternoon and came here straight away based on strong recommendations from friends, only to leave empty-handed due to the limited bagel selection. We returned the following day after a morning tour, hoping for better availability, but unfortunately the full range was still not on offer. As we were leaving the city that evening, we decided to dine anyway and chose an alternative bagel. That said, the quality of the food was excellent. Highly recommend the BBQ pulled pork bagel and the bacon and egg bagel — both were delicious.

This is my bacon and cheese bagel with double egg and added ham. The bagel itself was fresh, and the fillings were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I’ve never had a bagel in New York, so I can’t say how authentic this is, but it honestly didn’t matter. A good bagel is a good bagel.

This was the most delicious bagel I've ever had in Saigon. This snack alone is perfect for lunch and dinner, and the combination of ingredients is fabulous! It's worth enjoying!

Holy moly, didn't expect to find such an awesome bagel experience in Vietnam! I got a Melbourne latte coffee and a roasted pumpkin bagel (they have a vegan version too) The team is super sweet and accommodating, and speak excellent English. The ambiance and decor is retro and really orange, with an old school Nintendo style gaming consoles to keep the young and young and heart busy till their bagel arrives. The music is pop style and upbeat, extremely trendy spot and super Instagrammable. They have two levels, downstairs has two tables and upstairs has enough seating to accomodate 30 people( there's also a big group table upstairs) and a couple of high balcony chairs overlooking the beautiful garden across the street. Let's get to the food and coffee now: wow! The bagel bread is just perfectly crispy, flavourful and the inside of the bagel came with avocadoes, bell peppers, rocket leaves and some mayo style condiments(you can choose from a list of sauces). The coffee was well made and came with good latte art, I'd say it was living up to it's Melbourne name. Personally, I'd have the pumpkin separately, but you do you. The taste and quality was top knotch and tasty enough for me to do a double take as to where I was having this, it's actually that good! Bagel brothers left nothing to be desired and any self respecting bagel lover visiting HCMC should drop in for a bite or two. Two thumbs up!
