Bún Cá Song Vị Hoàng Gia - Vietnamese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Bún Cá Song Vị Hoàng Gia opens at 6:30 AM on Tân Cảng, a quieter stretch of Bình Thạnh that draws morning commuters and couples looking for a proper warm bowl before the day starts. The dining room is noticeably well-kept for a street-level Vietnamese noodle shop — clean tables, considered decor, the kind of space where the owner takes visible pride in the physical environment alongside what lands in the bowl.
The signature is bún cá and bánh đa cá, with the standout protein being cá rô (climbing perch) fried to a golden crisp. The 60,000 VND đặc biệt bowl loads the fish alongside chả cá, mọc viên (fish paste balls), and what several reviewers single out as unusually good chả ốc — a chewy snail sausage that adds textural contrast missing from most similar spots. The broth runs sweet and light rather than heavy or oily, described consistently as ngọt thanh: a nước lèo that reads clean on the palate and lets the toppings carry the weight.
One recurring note in the reviews concerns the cá rô: some diners prefer it served on the side to preserve crispness rather than soaking in the broth. It is a reasonable point, and the fish is good enough that the distinction matters. Service moves quickly — orders typically arrive within five minutes of sitting down — and the price point of 50,000 to 60,000 VND for a generously topped bowl holds strong against comparable noodle shops in the area.
For anyone passing through Bình Thạnh in the early morning, it functions as a reliable neighborhood anchor: unhurried, affordable, and consistent on what it sets out to do.
Reviews
