Hẻm Cafe & Kitchen - Vietnamese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Hẻm Cafe & Kitchen occupies a compact, warm-toned space on Ung Văn Khiêm street, drawing nearby office workers and residents for weekday meals — the kitchen runs Tuesday through Friday, closed on weekends and Mondays, so the crowd is reliably local. The menu is short and Vietnamese-focused, with a few dishes that reveal genuine thought. Bún nước tương, a soy-sauce noodle bowl with silken tofu and fried wontons (hoành thánh chiên), offers a credible vegetarian option — one reviewer arrived on the first of the lunar month looking for a chay bowl and left satisfied. The súp thịt viên arrives clear-brothed with soft, aromatic meatballs and fresh cilantro, restrained seasoning that lets the ingredients speak. Cơm bò xào sốt teriyaki has gathered its own following for a sauce that's properly balanced: not cloying, with beef cooked to an even finish. The salad gà chiên giòn brings contrast — golden crispy chicken over cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, and shredded carrot, lighter than most items on the board. Presentation across the menu is tidy without being overthought: bright vegetables, clean bowls, modest portions that suit solo diners. Takeaway traffic is steady at lunch. The owners are the operational engine here — reviews consistently flag their attentiveness: explaining how fish sauce should be portioned for the bún thịt xào, adjusting soy milk sweetness on request, keeping service brisk without feeling transactional. For a recently opened restaurant, the consistency already on show — a perfect score across 17 reviews — suggests the kitchen is working from a clear standard rather than opening-week goodwill.
Reviews
Mình ghé order cơm sốt mè, phần ăn siu chất lượng, ăn 1 ng mà no ứ hự, topping ê hề với trang trí bày biện bắt mắt.
