We came here as it was just around the corner from our hotel. We hadn’t made a booking and when we arrived weren’t greeted very well by the girl at the counter. My partner speaks vietnamese but she seemed over her job and didn’t really want to be there. The food and atmosphere were great but the service could do with some work.

Coco Thai - Thai restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Coco Thai operates out of the Paris Garden complex on Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, its exterior wrapped in floral motifs that set a different tone from the surrounding entertainment district. Despite sitting within a larger complex, the immediate area runs quiet on most evenings, lending the restaurant a more settled atmosphere than its address might suggest. The kitchen anchors its menu around tom yum in two forms — a clear prawn broth and a robust red seafood hotpot available in medium and large sizes for the table — alongside Pad Thai with shrimp and stir-fried glass noodles with seafood. Where Coco Thai separates itself from other Thai options in District 2 is on the dessert side: mango sticky rice, jackfruit sticky rice, coconut panna cotta with pomegranate seeds, and several ice cream options including young coconut and sticky rice give the menu an unusually complete arc from first course through to finish. Drinks run sweet by default; requesting a reduced-sugar version is a reasonable ask. The 4.8 rating across 757 reviews reflects consistent execution rather than occasional brilliance — generous portions, well-calibrated spice, and a room that accommodates two-person dinners as comfortably as it does groups gathering around shared hotpots. The clientele skews toward both expat residents and local diners looking for reliable Thai cooking without a dedicated restaurant-strip commute. Weekend service can stretch thin during peak hours and table placement is inconsistent, but the kitchen output holds. A split schedule — 11 AM to 2 PM and 5 to 10 PM daily — means every sitting starts with a fresh kitchen.

Reviews
The space is nice though, comfortable and clean. I ordered rice, papaya salad, and crispy fried squid with sauce. The food was okay, nothing special, just decent. The staff took quite a while to serve us, but I guess it’s understandable since it was the weekend and very busy. Overall, it was an okay experience. I’d give it a 7/10.
The restaurant is located in Paris Garden. We visited it on a Saturday night and found the area surprisingly quiet. The restaurant itself has a cool, floral-themed décor on the outside that creates a pleasant ambiance. The food was quite good - I especially loved the trứng lòng đào and gỏi xoài cá trê. All the dishes met my expectations. The drinks were a bit too sweet for my taste, so you might want to ask for a less sweet version. Service was excellent overall. Although they forgot the sauce for my pork rib soup, they apologized sincerely, which I appreciated. I think this could be a great spot for casual gatherings with friends or family.
Tucked away inside the Saigon by Night entertainment complex, Coco Thai is a hidden gem worth discovering. The food is fresh, flavorful, with generous portions and beautifully balanced spices. The service is warm and attentive. I would come back again next time.
The restaurant space looks messy, I don’t know why they can set us a table near a corner which they store lots of stuff. It makes the atmosphere unclean with bad arrangement. Food is not tasty, not well-decorated. But the price is reasonable.
