The Story

About This Place

Cube Cake occupies a small but carefully considered space on Xuân Thủy, a street that has become a reliable stretch for Thao Dien's dessert circuit. The format is focused: a short lineup of signature cakes built around the bakery's cube presentation, each one sized generously enough that a single slice constitutes a proper event. The chocolate cake has become the calling card — dense, rich, and milky in a way that sits closer to a French ganache than the lighter sponge cakes common to the neighborhood. Regulars note cravings that bring them back specifically for it.

Beyond chocolate, the range shifts into lighter territory. The Dalat yogurt cheesecake is creamy and soft with a restrained sweetness, while the jasmine forest variant is described by reviewers as ideal for those who find most desserts oversweet — milky, barely sweet, and delicate. A chestnut option rounds out the seasonal rotation, though the yoghurt cheese leans noticeably tart from lemon. Prices are on the higher end of what Thao Dien charges for cake, and VAT is added at the register rather than displayed in the case — worth knowing before ordering.

The ambiance leans into warm lighting and a compact layout that keeps things unhurried. Staff are consistently friendly. Drinks are available but reportedly slower to arrive than the cakes. The clientele skews toward couples and solo visitors after something specific rather than groups looking to linger over a full menu. For a neighborhood that has no shortage of all-day cafe-bakeries, Cube Cake is one of the few spots where the cake itself, rather than the setting or the coffee program, is the actual reason to go.

A little bit pricey but I’m glad we were able to try the chestnut flavor, the yoghurt cheese’s flavor is a bit too lemon-y for my taste but still an experience.

Came across this shop and I decided to give their cake a try. The Dalat yogurt cheesecake was so delicious- very creamy and soft! Be mindful that their displayed price is not VAT included yet.
