FEN Modern Izakaya - Japanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

The food tasted great and looked amazing. Prices were good too.

The food is mediocre at best. Server doesn't speak English, so I had to use Google translate to explain that my soft shell crab was too oily and soft. Food service is inconsistent, I ordered 2 plates of Salmon Sushi and there was a huge difference in quality with a very weird after taste in my second plate. Fries were oily and 0 seasoning, it's like the chef never heard of salt. I just couldn't eat and paid my bill and left. It was very frustrating to communicate which made the experience unpleasant. Is it worth a visit? Absolutely not! Skip it and save your money and time.

Modern izakaya place. Ambience abit dark and music can be abit loud. The inside seatings near the restroom is little bit quieter and cozier. Prices here abit on the higher side considering it’s a popular street of District 1. Service was abit slow. Ordered salmon mentaiko dish (88k/pc), xo veg(89k), roast pork dish (250k), fried chix wings (159k) and 2 drinks (~70k ea). Food tasted pretty alright just portion a little small. I really like the ambiance and the way the restaurant is decorated. Overall, the food is good, though it felt a little pricey for what was offered. The dishes are enjoyable, but not especially innovative, and the portions are on the smaller side. The wait was slightly longer than expected, even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy. For me, the skewers stood out the most, while the fried rice, noodles, and beef sandwich were fine

Great place, casual and I chose footpath dining which is fun in this area, street is busy, a good Izakaya menu covering all it should with quality and tasty offerings. For me as a random stop just had a cold Sapporo, sesame/chilli cucumber salad and their ‘Sancho Beef’ a Japanese style Sando with very tender panko crumbed steak, soft bread and yuzu mayo all good all enjoyable. Great staff, very friendly, fun place. Worth a stop
