The Story

About This Place

SIPSY occupies a narrow shopfront on Nguyễn Đình Chiểu in the Đa Kao quarter, and from the street it reads as an unremarkable local drinks stall. Step inside and the menu tells a different story. The fruit tea lineup is genuinely broad—lychee oolong, blueberry green tea, longan green tea, apple-kiwi-mint, pink guava—covering both hot-weather refreshment and the kind of mildly adventurous combinations that have become standard at Saigon's better bubble tea shops. The milk tea side runs from a simple traditional 700ml to taro oolong and fresh milk with black sugar pearls, the latter made with French fresh milk and vegan butter according to the menu description.

The coffee is a quiet point of pride. Trung Nguyen beans are used rather than a commodity blend, and at least one visitor noted it was among the better cups they'd had in some time—an assessment that stands out given the shop's otherwise unassuming presentation. The pricing sits at the affordable end of the district, which partly explains the loyal local following.

Service is what earns SIPSY its warmest reviews. Staff have handed visiting families complimentary branded travel cups and stickers unprompted, the kind of gesture that turns a single visit into a repeat one. The shop draws a mixed crowd: neighborhood regulars stopping in before work, parents with young children on weekend mornings, and the occasional foreigner who wanders in and ends up staying longer than planned.

The location requires a little navigation—one-way streets on the surrounding blocks mean a wrong turn can add time—but the address on Nguyễn Đình Chiểu is straightforward once the approach is planned. Weekend hours open thirty minutes earlier at 7 AM, which makes it a viable first stop before the rest of the neighborhood wakes up.
