Despite the slight messy look of the interior, the coffee and pastry were neat. The way the barista doing things solo and dedicatedly explains the top-nocht quality and artistry of this place. 9.5/10

Lạc Cafe - Coffee Brewer & Roastery - Coffee shop in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Lạc Cafe occupies a small shopfront at the end of a residential alley off Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm, a street dense with cafes in District 2's Đa Kao ward. The interior fits roughly 10 to 15 guests across a compact garden area and an air-conditioned room, with soft directional lighting and wooden details keeping the pace noticeably slower than the avenue outside.
A single barista runs the whole operation, which gives the place its particular character. The bean sourcing is taken seriously — recent rotations have included an Ethiopian variety from a Taiwanese roaster, offered as pour-over at 125,000 VND. Regulars describe it as genuinely impressive: clean, considered, a strong opening to a long working day. The broader menu covers espresso drinks, cold brew, flavored coffee, matcha, and a small selection of non-coffee options. The matcha coco — coconut-forward but grounded by actual matcha bitterness — is mentioned consistently and hits a balance that sweetened matcha drinks often miss. Cheesecake is the primary food offering, described as solid alongside the drinks.
The guest mix skews toward regulars and visitors who specifically seek smaller, quieter spots over the larger café-restaurant hybrids that dominate Thao Dien's main roads. A resident dog occasionally greets people near the entrance, which appears as often in reviews as the coffee itself. The barista will discuss current bean selections with customers who ask, and the general atmosphere reflects that — engaged but unhurried.
For the capacity and the alley location, the coffee program operates at a level that competes with more prominent specialty spots in the city. That combination — low footprint and high attention to what is in the cup — is what keeps the rating at 4.8 across 117 reviews.
Reviews
Amazing matcha Coco drink. Tastes sweet like coconut but bitter with matcha, perfect balance!
I really loved my experience in this cafe. The cafe is tucked away in a small little alley, which gives it a cozy, hidden gem feel and makes it a nice escape from the busy streets outside. It’s the kind of place you stumble upon and immediately want to stay for a while. They have a great variety of drinks, including cold brew, espresso, flavored coffee, matcha, non-coffee options, and even a few pastries. The vibe is very relaxed, with a warm and chill ambiance. The soft spot lighting and wooden interiors make the space feel extra welcoming and calm. They also play relaxing, chill music, and I was pleasantly surprised that most of the songs were in English, which added to the laid-back atmosphere. They also have the cutest Pomeranian dog who’s just as friendly as the staff. I ordered an iced coffee with condensed milk and fresh milk, and as someone with a sweet tooth, it was perfect. I also tried their tropical tea, which was refreshing and nicely balanced, perfect for the warm weather. I was pleasantly surprised that the oat milk substitute was free too, which was a thoughtful touch. One of the best things about this café is the value for money. The coffee was excellent, and the price was only around 50k VND. Great drinks, lovely space, and warm service make it a must-visit spot for coffee lovers in Ho Chi Minh City.
the drinks were amazing! but the best part was this cutie 🐾🥺
