Nice environment but with such raving reviews, I expected more of the food. Their vongole pasta sauce tasted sour - might be a cause of too much white wine or the wine wasn’t reduced enough but they claim it’s been cooked like this for 10 years so. Possibly unfresh clams too. The duck confit was tender but the mash potatoes weren’t creamy enough.
Following on from a recommendation we walked a few blocks to the yellow lane way and discovered The Refinery. We were immediately seated in beautiful air-conditioning as it was a very hot and humid night. There is also plenty of outdoor dining available. A great variety of wines, beers, cocktails and non alcoholic drinks on the menu. We started with beef carparccio, followed by the Sea Bass special and the beef cheeks. These dishes were just amazing and the flavors delicious. For dessert we tried the apple tart and passionfruit yoghurt. Both amazing but special mention to the Passionfruit yoghurt it was a fantastic surprise and very refreshing. Again Vietnamese restaurants have blown us away. Hopefully next time we come to Saigon we have time to return to The Refinery.
A delightful French bistro serving up delish food with quality ingredients. Both the clams & steak we ordered were well prepared. Experience would be even better if we could be seated indoor, but we booked dinner just a couple of hours in advance. Be sure you make reservation.
Had a great time. The value was worth the money and service was on point. Super plus if you order the crepe Suzette they will flame it in front of you bistro style with a little carriage. Atmosphere is great it keeps a real French cachet as if it hadn’t moved for over 50-70 years.
