The Story

About This Place

béo. cafe sits on a residential side street well off the busier Thao Dien arteries, drawing a mix of laptop workers and weekend coffee-seekers who want something low-key rather than performative. The space is compact — a handful of tables inside, a couple out front — kept tidy with trailing greenery and soft lighting that holds steady at conversation volume throughout the day. Glass cups replace disposable plastic, power outlets are distributed generously through the room, and the background music stays at a level that doesn't compete with work or conversation.

The menu is focused rather than sprawling. Croffles — mini croissant-waffle hybrids — are the most-ordered item, arriving crispy and fragrant, particularly good with the butter-honey glaze. The caramel bạc xỉu takes the Vietnamese white coffee format and layers in a caramel note that works without being cloying. Cold brew is clean and consistent, and the arabica iced latte earns specific praise for its espresso-to-milk ratio, which avoids the dilution common at busier spots nearby. The cacao chuối and other banana-based drinks are listed as best-sellers by regulars and hold up to the label. Milk tea is on offer but runs sweet — worth specifying reduced sugar on order.

Pricing sits noticeably below the Thao Dien median for comparable quality, which is unusual in a neighborhood where cafés frequently charge for the address as much as the product. Staff are consistently described as friendly and efficient without hovering.

The clientele is mostly locals and expat regulars who found the place through word of mouth rather than a prominent sign. For a district increasingly defined by concept-heavy, photogenic café openings, béo. cafe occupies a more functional register: honest coffee, solid pastries, and enough infrastructure to stay for the afternoon.

Wow, didn’t expect too much, but I was really impressed with this small spot. Both the croffle and the cold brew are so good.
