The food was really good. I was served my sushi first, followed by my skewers. After waiting for a long time, they seemed to have forgotten about my Katsu-Don. I waited for about 30-40mins and was visibly upset about it. However, during payment, they gave me a dessert for free as an apology for the long wait which made this restaurant redeem itself. Otherwise i would have given it lower stars. Shoutout to the lady, no idea her name but thank you.

Really good food - sashimi was really fresh! The pork kimchi cheese yakitori is also a must try 🖤 I was recommended the Strawberry Umeshu - that was a really good recommendation on a hot night. Thank you for the food!
We recently had lunch at ME-TETSU IZAKAYA, a cozy Japanese restaurant located in Saigon’s Japanese district, and overall it was a very good experience. I’d give it a solid four stars. The food was tasty and authentic, the service was quick and attentive, and the atmosphere really made us feel like we had stepped into a small izakaya somewhere in Japan. We started with the yakitori, those small grilled skewers that are such a classic in Japanese cuisine. They were perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. The smoky aroma from the grill combined with the slightly sweet glaze made them absolutely delicious. We ordered just half a portion, but even so, it was a generous serving for the price. In fact, the prices at ME-TETSU IZAKAYA are one of its strong points — everything is very reasonably priced, which makes it easy to enjoy a variety of dishes without worrying about the bill. For the quality and authenticity of the food, the value for money here is truly excellent. We also ordered another popular dish, a breaded beef cutlet served with a rich, dark sauce. The meat was tender and nicely cooked, with a crispy coating that gave it a satisfying crunch. The sauce was interesting — it had a flavor somewhat similar to barbecue sauce, but lighter and with a hint of alcohol, almost like a blend between Japanese tonkatsu sauce and something slightly boozy. It was tasty and well-prepared, though I personally expected something a bit different. I had imagined a Japanese curry with rice, mixed with the meat in a more hearty style. So in that sense, it wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, and that was a bit of a letdown. Still, even though it wasn’t what I expected, I can’t say it was bad — the dish was flavorful and clearly well made. The service was excellent throughout our meal. The staff were friendly, efficient, and very attentive. Our food arrived quickly, and they made sure we had everything we needed without hovering or interrupting. It’s always nice to see that kind of professionalism in a busy city restaurant, and it really added to the overall positive impression. As for the ambiance, ME-TETSU IZAKAYA really shines in that area. The decor and atmosphere make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Japan. The warm lighting, wooden details, and background music create an authentic izakaya vibe that’s both relaxing and lively. It’s the perfect setting for a casual lunch or dinner with friends, or even a quiet solo meal if you just want to enjoy some good Japanese food in peace. All in all, I’d say ME-TETSU IZAKAYA is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Japanese food in Saigon at very fair prices. The yakitori was outstanding, the beef cutlet tasty (even if not exactly what I expected), and the service and ambiance were both top-notch. It’s a place I’d definitely recommend and would be happy to return to. For its combination of great food, friendly staff, and authentic Japanese atmosphere, it fully deserves four stars.
