A great Japanese Restaurant! Ordered the Mi Shoyu Ramen & Karaage Chicken set and gyoza on the side, everything was absolutely delicious! The Ramen had great flavour and the meat was tender. Karagge chicken was crispy with a good amount of mayo on the side. Gyoza hit the spot with fresh taste. The food came out so quickly, though i was the only one there st the time. The menu has heaps of options, definitely coming back to try everything else.

RAMEN てっぺん Teppen - Japanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

Not many would expect this small and quaint ramen stall to be one of the better few for its weight class. I have been and still am skeptical about ramen stalls like these because there are just too many imitations that turn out bad and ruin the reputation or image of what a ramenhouse should be. FOOD I really couldnt find anything wrong with the food (or at least the stuff we ordered). We ordered a TEPPEN ramen, a BLACK SHOYU ramen, and GYOZA. Would also like to provide a disclaimer that different ramen options come with different types of ramen noodles, so if you have a preference on thicker/thinner ramen, best to ask the staff. Soup was hearty, umami, and packed with flavors, definitely not some store-bought ramen stock. In specific, the TEPPEN broth was slightly thicker and murkier which I believe is the result of vigorous and extended periods of boiling pork bones which emulsifies the fat and liquids, forming an opaque and thick broth. The BLACK SHOYU broth was a little lighter and more translucent but still packed with crazy amounts of flavour. You can see visible bits of fats floating on the surface which to me, is a good indication that your broth isnt going to be bland or boring. Noodles were chewy (but not hard like al dente), and it soaked up the flavors of the broth. The accompanying ingredients (black fungus, bamboo shoots, green onions, eggs, seaweed) provided a plethora of textures and additional flavors. However, the soup was definitely on the saltier side which I am personally okay with. Gyoza was acceptable - pan-seared on one side and steamed on another, allowing 2 distinct texture types on the same dumpling. Meat filling was soft and tasty enough, pair it with vinegar for an extra kick. Would've preferred a little more sear and colour on the pan-fried side. SERVICE Staff was helpful, polite, and informative. Asked for chilli pepper powder, they didnt have it, but suggested an alternative. This showed their care for customers and trying their best to ensure everyone has a good dining experience. Really appreciated the condiments at each table - shoyu, vinegar, chilli sauce, pepper, chilli oil. This allows you to create and customize your own dipping sauce. ATMOSPHERE Generally clean and no foul odors in the shop. Aircon temperature was just nice, and we did not notice the aircon blowing down directly on us. Song choices were great but maybe add more songs to the playlist because its the same 8 songs replaying :) OVERALL, a humble and affordable place to get good bowl of ramen (they have many other rice dishes too). Considering the price point and quality of the food, there really isnt much to complain about. I dont understand lowly rated reviews about this place saying it's lacking the "Japan taste" without even defining what it means and comparing it to what they had in Japan. Nonetheless, would definitely come back again!
Delicious ramen with reasonable price 🤤🤤🤤
RAMEN てっぺん Teppen – Where Japanese Tradition Meets Modern Aesthetics 🇯🇵 I’m not quite sure what came over me yesterday — maybe it was the need for quiet, or simply the urge to wander somewhere my mind could rest. I had passed this little ramen shop many times before, always meaning to stop — but never did. Until last night, when Fuji Kaze’s soft voice drifted through the Saigon air, and I finally stepped inside. By the riverside stretch of Kênh Nhiêu Lộc - Thị Nghè, where city chaos meets calm reflections, sits this hidden gem — RAMEN てっぺん Teppen. The moment I walked in, it reminded me of Kitakata, a town in Fukushima Prefecture known for its soul-warming ramen and riverside shops. Of course, I didn’t expect to find hirauchi jukusei takasuimen, but what I did find was something even better — the spirit of a true ramen-ya (ラーメン屋): harmony between noodles, broth, and water. Every spoonful carried the kind of comfort only a bowl of ramen can give. Inside, it feels like stepping into Japan — a glowing tōrō lantern at the door, noren curtains swaying gently, a Bosozoku (暴走族) bike beside hand-drawn murals, and tiny anime figures from One Piece, Pokémon, and Dragon Ball Z perched on the counter. It’s Shōwa-era nostalgia meeting modern Japanese street flair, perfectly balanced — much like their ramen. Here’s what I tried and loved: 🍤 Ebi Ramen Special (エビラーメンスペシャル) 🍜 Ajitama Shoyu Ramen (味玉醤油) 🥟 Jukusei Gyoza (熟成餃子) 🍤 Ebi Fry (エビフライ) Affordable, soulful, and sincere — Teppen proves that perfection often lies in simplicity. If I can, I’ll return for asa-ra (朝ラーメン) — morning ramen, a quiet ritual I’ve missed from Japan. So, with chopsticks in hand, I bow slightly and whisper softly — “Itadakimasu” (いただきます) 🙏
ngonnnn
