Sushi Shinkon 心琿 - Japanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City

The omakase "fish" offering was very limited. There were many repeats in the appetisers such as sashimi and then sushi courses. For example, sawara was served both for sashimi and sushi. Overall still a good meal served by a friendly chef.

It’s an experience. This place had very fresh seafood imported from Japan. Chef was a work of art himself. We loved it. Also notable were the very friendly and attentive staff. The preparation area looks clean enough and all that but I personally had to commence my meal by killing ants and flies. Well in spite an overall pleasant and enjoyable experience I have to minus one star for the obvious signs of a poorly maintained restaurant. Such as the numerous ants and tiny flies running around ( very annoying ones ). Also the walls by the entrance show signs of a persistent water leak and stains. Kind of what you sometimes see in vacant houses. The main door was also giving trouble opening and closing. All these aren’t something you’d expect in a restaurant for this price and stature.

The sushi here is of good quality, and the atmosphere is inviting. The staff is very friendly, and the chef pays careful attention to every detail. However, I haven’t found any dish that truly impressed me. That said, considering the price and the portion sizes, I think the overall experience is quite good.

We came in last month and the experience was amazing! Hoàng, Tuấn, and Tùng (apologies if I got your names wrong!) were terrific at explaining and walking us through the courses. And of course, all the food was fresh, high quality, and delicious! Highly recommended. Check them out!

Had the chance to try Omakase for the first time over the weekend at this restaurant. It’s tucked away on a small street just off Nguyen Hue walking street. Despite being a weekend, the place wasn’t too crowded, which made it peaceful and perfect for chatting with the chef about the dishes or just enjoying a relaxed conversation with friends. The staff were attentive and thoughtful. As for the food — the freshness and quality were absolutely top-notch. Each piece of sushi just melted in my mouth. All in all, a wonderful experience and definitely worth trying, especially for a date night 🫶🏻
