The Story

About This Place

A no-frills dining room on Nguyễn Quý Cảnh in District 2's An Phú zone draws a steady crowd of locals who return for central Vietnamese cooking at prices that still make sense in this increasingly expensive part of the city. The split-shift hours — morning service until 1 PM, evening reopening at 4:30 — follow the rhythm of a proper Hue-style operation rather than the all-day café format common elsewhere in the neighborhood.

The bún bò Huế is the anchor dish, earning repeat visits from D2 regulars who rate it the best version available in the district. The broth carries the lemongrass and shrimp paste depth that defines Hue's beef noodle soup, and the kitchen sources vegetables that reviewers consistently note as exceptionally fresh. Alongside it, the chè Huế — sweet soup made to traditional central Vietnamese recipes — has built its own following; the balance reads as authentically calibrated rather than sweetened down for broader palates.

Cơm hến, Hue's everyday clam rice dish, also appears on the menu and draws positive notices from diners familiar enough with the dish to assess it properly. It is the kind of item that separates genuine regional kitchens from those loosely playing at a cuisine.

The setting is utilitarian. Tables fill fast during peak morning and lunch windows, and service can stretch when the room hits capacity. For diners prioritizing ambiance, this is not the right address. For those after the specific flavor of Hue home cooking — proper bún bò, clam rice, sweet soup — at a price point that reflects the food rather than the postcode, Quán Huế Thương fills a gap few places in District 2 manage.

I was disappointed about Bun Thit Nuong, the portion was small, did not have typical flavour. Service was good. There was noone in the restaurant but me.

Best bún bò huế in D2. Quite clean and vegetables are really fresh! Highly recommended for hangover.

I've been here a bunch, and it's some of the most affordable Hue-style food around. It's authentic and not too expensive. The facility isn't that special, so it's definitely more of a local restaurant.
