The Story

About This Place

TRE Dining sits at the more serious end of Thao Dien's restaurant spectrum, offering a structured tasting menu format that draws diners looking for something more deliberate than the neighborhood's many casual spots. The kitchen's approach prioritizes technique and restraint—courses arrive with careful plating and flavor combinations that draw on Asian culinary references without veering into novelty for its own sake.

The Reborn set menu is the main event. It moves through several courses, with a charred corn preparation that multiple guests single out for its ability to conjure specific flavor memories, and a mallard dish that reviewers consistently describe as the most carefully executed protein of the evening. The dining room faces Landmark 81, which illuminates against the night sky and adds a visual dimension to what is already a full-evening commitment.

Michelin Guide recognition has established a certain baseline expectation at the door, and the kitchen meets it with reasonable consistency. The service team tends toward attentiveness—birthday celebrations receive complimentary desserts without prompting, and dietary accommodations including a dedicated vegan and pescatarian tasting menu variation are handled on request. Wine pairings come in premium and standard configurations; reviewers find them competent but not the defining element of the experience.

Budget roughly 6 million VND per person for the full tasting menu. TRE Dining operates five evenings a week—Tuesday is the only dark night—from 5 PM through 11 PM, making it one of the more focused operations in a neighborhood that otherwise skews toward all-day casual dining.

This restaurant has been selected by the Michelin Guide, and I’ve been dining here for a long time. I think it’s a wonderful place for a date - the atmosphere is romantic and cozy, with a beautiful view of the city’s landmarks (I can’t quite remember which ones, kaka). The food here is absolutely delicious, always prepared with great care and creativity. Whether you come for a special occasion or just to enjoy a nice meal, this place never disappoints

Extraordinary dining experience with great vibes and thoughtful tasting menu. We went for a casual friend hang out at Tre after having recommendation from our friends who had great experience with their latest tasting menu from July 2025. It came with two simple amuse yet delicate and well-balanced. We love the charred corn course which reminded us the flavor we had from our childhood memories. The highlight of the whole tasting menu was actually the mallard which was treated with lots of care from the Chef who passionately came to present at our table throughout every course. The tasting menu was not that long(8 courses) we didn’t take the pairing as they didn’t have the wine pairing option yet so we ended up ordering wine by glasses. Overall the experience was great and good value for what we paid for. Will definitely comeback for the new tasting menu released on September according to be told by the team.

My boyfriend and I decided to try Tre Dining because of its Michelin recognition and its location in the heart of Thảo Điền. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the fine dining label in any way. Service was slow and all over the place. There were only four guests in the restaurant, including us, yet the staff still seemed unprepared. They brought out the chef to explain the tasting menu, but he didn’t speak English (which was fine). The problem was, no one stepped in to help translate. The staff just stood there, clearly expecting me to translate everything into English for my boyfriend, who doesn’t speak Vietnamese. At this level, that just felt incredibly unprofessional. On top of that, the chef had zero energy - no emotion, no passion. It felt like he was just trying to get it done. We ordered the “Motherland” tasting menu (1,950,000 VND per person), and honestly, it just wasn’t worth it. The food looked like it was trying to be fine dining. The flavors weren’t there. One of the first dishes came out with a fingerprint on the plate which is a big no, especially at this level. Some plates didn’t even look clean. Every dish felt flat, disconnected, and forgettable. No story, no texture contrast, no creativity. What made things worse was how long we had to wait between dishes. The pacing was painfully slow…not in the relaxed, intentional way you’d expect from a fine dining tasting menu, but in a way that made us feel forgotten and disengaged. Each course took so long to arrive that the whole experience started to drag, killing any excitement we had. We ended up paying over 5 million VND for a dinner that had no heart, no flavour, and no real effort behind it. It didn’t feel like fine dining at all, more like a restaurant trying to imitate the experience without understanding what makes it special. The setting is beautiful, but everything else seriously needs more work, care, and attention. Honestly, I’m still confused how this place got a Michelin mention. It was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had in a long time.

Wonderful fine dining course meal experience with a great view of the landmark 81 building glowing at night. The presentation of the dishes and the quality of the food is superb. However, you need to prepare your wallet since you would spend about 6 million VND.

A restaurant of incredible quality and attention to detail. I had dinner with my girlfriend, and we left delighted by the experience. The level of cuisine is exceptionally high, as is the meticulous care from the entire staff. The price is absolutely reasonable when considering the overall experience.
